What's Dad worth-----repairs, mowing, cooking, grocery shopping. Some do the same as mom plus. Moms are worth it but don't forget dad. This is a sexist report.
I for one think my husband is worth more than anyone could pay or afford. I think the world of him. He has been a wonderful Dad and father. How could I ever hope to put a price tag on that. I could never have raised two male children without him in the home. I am a big fan of men.

Darlin, I can do all those manly things and get none of the stuff you promised. As for looks, I need work admittedly but it's tough without any motivation. If I ever find a woman with your outlook, I'll carve myself down with a butter knife if need be, but alas, I'll never be Mr. Pitt but I could be somewhat John Wayne-ish. He's more of man in my opinion anyway.
I absolutely agree, Dan. You're a great catch for some lucky girl.

Could it be that they're just lazy and spoiled themselves? Spoiled possibly by their own mother? Nah, that never happens.

Actually, its very rare that a woman will willingly marry "down" financially. You say your mom did so that means that "plenty of women" do? And my mother was 6', I guess that means "plenty of women" are six feet tall...
"Plenty of women" do...I never said they were in the majority but there are plenty of them out there. No it's not as commonplace. But it happens...plenty of times. And plenty of women are 6' tall, too, just like your mom.....and me.

How much is plenty? If its only one out of one thousand then you'd still have plenty of them, in a country of 300 million. But statistically, its really insignificant. In fact, statistically, women DON'T marry below their own economic status. Don't use the manwho statistic: "I know a man who..."

What a joke, a PC joke! Soccer moms who go to the beach in a 50k LandRover while their husbands work two jobs to support their credit cards, spoiled brats, expensive schools, etc. should be paid? Give me a break. Their children don't benefit us, procreation is a genetic response, not a moral/religious vocation. How about the thousands of abusive moms out their, do we get a refund?

Matters not. I did not break this down to a percentage point statistic. Numbers are numbers. You are right when you say that these woman are in the minority, but they exist, and the smart ones know what's important. Character and stability. I know many who have...including my mother, myself and friends.

To speak to your point, not many women would choose someone who wasn't at least financially stable.(Most men wouldn't either.) But having to earn a substantially higher paycheck? Nope.

My mom is still priceless!!

The men that support the soccer moms driving their fancy cars getting their nails done and lunching on the beach while their kids attend private school, working their butts off...I bet many of them want it that way.

Yep, next to American women, the next stupidest creature is the American male, who marries these bimbos, gets trapped into fatherhood, then has to pay for them even after divorce! As the old joke goes; what's the difference between a prostitute and a wife?, answer, a prostitute gets her money going into the deal, a wife on the way out(divorce).Working women with a husband and a family have my highest respect, soccer moms, zero.

Believe it or not, there are more than enough men in the late 40's (and often much older) who marry young girls under 30 in order to have a second set of children! I suppose it's good for their ego (as it relates to their manhood), or maybe they've reached a point in their lives where they feel they've earned a "trophy wife". Personally, I think they're nuts! Who would want to be changing diapers in their 60s (unless it's a grandchild) or puting kids through college in their 70s, when they should be thinking about their own retirements. It's amazing the crazy decisions that pride will inspire.

Yep, you make some good points! Of course a good mother is priceless, she raises her kids out of love. That's what so 1970's N.O.W. about this nonsense story! Any couple able to live a traditional lifestyle made a personal decision, fine. But to say that the stay-at-home mom is worth nearly 117K per year is ridiculous, and only insults loving moms and dads everywhere. That's the problem with these PC studies/surveys, they're usually funded by fringe women's groups with an ax to grind re men. Many women work out of necessity, many have rewarding careers, these are private decisions not to be picked apart to divide the sexes, as this article seems to have done. Shame!

And all the while, we thought arm candy and a tight (oops) were the reasons.

When the kids are in school, what do they have to do besides a few errands, cleaning, and watching Soap Operas.

Noboday is worth 117K for that!
