There is a large parcel that's empty up the street on Route 7 in Brookfield. Route 7 will be right there when the new section is completed. Why don't they look at that piece of property? That road can handle the traffic. I don't understand why they are so h*ll bent on that one location that's on a small road in a wetland area?

The headline is not a true representation of how the commission feels about the Costco plan. From being at the meetings it appears that Costco is working with the commission to asnwer any questions and concerns that the board may have.

Another example of Costco attempting to be a good corporate neighbor.

Old Timer, why don't you move to New Milford.

I must say I enjoy seeing delays and more hurdles for Costco. I for one will really miss Larson's Farm and the best Haunted House in the area.

It's well known by the old timers that there were old campsites on the edge of the property. I'm talking thousands of years old and they are apprx 2-3 feet deep. I guess it would cost alot of money to do the proper research. time moves on.
So true

I couldn't agree more. I'm hoping they'll just get out of here altogether and some other stores will move in. Sorry, but I hate Costco. I don't shop there and have no interest to. I joined for awhile years ago and it just turned me off. I don't think you're getting any bargains there unless you own a restaurant or small business and need to buy in large quantities. The place has always turned me off.

If there is any archaeological value to the site, it should be dug and documented. Unless you are desperate for a five gallon jar of mustard.

Thats right drive Costco out of town and then complain when your taxes go up...brilliant idea. MAYBE THE SENIOR CITIZENS ON FIXED INCOMES CAN MAKE UP FOR THE LOST TAX REVENUE OR POSSIBLY THE DISABLED WHO HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO WITH THEIR MONEY ANYWAY.

If you can't afford to live here anymore.. maybe it's time to move out. Costco sux! I'm sure they can put another commercial type building there. We don't need or want all the traffic that cr*ppy store brings in.

The U.S. has become a nation of buckworshippers and it is unfortunate. IN ADDITION TO BUCKWORSHIPPING AT THE LOCAL GAS PUMP, THE EMPHASIS ON RETAIL TO SHORE UP THE LOCAL ECONOMIES, INSTEAD OF ESTABLISHING REAL MANUFACTURING BUSINESSES, WILL EVENTUALLY PRODUCE A REGIONAL WASTELAND. River flood plains mean absolutely nothing to retail developers and many zoning commissions.(e.g. Danbury's ongoing development) Stew Leonard's just a short ditance away,is built on 19 acres of Still River Flood Plain. If Brookfield residents want to preserve this Larson Farm Lot, they should do themselves a big favor by taking it by eminent domain and then come up with the cash to buy off Costco. Probably a hundred bucks from each Brookfielder pocket (a small price to pay) will purchase it and get rid of another "retail junkyard"!!!

Why post under 2 different names just to say the same stupid thing. Typical Yuppie Connecticut attitude. If all the poor move out, who will work for the lazy rich?

Costco generates alot of money for this town...if we lose costco to another town they will benefit. If not costco it will be another furniture store we don't need. Brookfield Needs to generate more money.
