I knew the murder suspect and I am astonished at his actions! No one would have suspected this and I can only pray for Dana's family and also Pat's parents and sisters. I just wish I could ask him why and what was going through his mind that night? He has changed so many people's lives and cannot take that back.

I knew Pats family but not Dana's. It is something that no one will or could ever understand. It was a chemical imbalance and/or sickness that must be treated. I knew Pat as a descend young man. It will never bring that beautiful young woman back but it is something that must be addressed appropriately. Many young men and woman live their lives with this imbalance, know it, cannot and will not share it and try to deal with it within themselves. It is, most often unforeseeable by loved ones as it is hidden purposely; not because of the out coming circumstances but because they know this feeling isn't right and they try to control it without embarrassment or guilt. Please pray for everyone involed.

"decent people" don't kill innocent young women. use whatever excuse you'd like, it changes nothing and will never bring her back. he had ample opportunity to take his own life, but he was too much of a coward. where was this "chemical imbalance" then? thanks for sharing your defense strategy with the general public, though. it's been enlightening.

As a friend of Dana's, I can only hope that this man remains in jail for the rest of his life. I hope any mental illness he may have is treated, if only so he can fully understand the horrendous crime he committed and the pain he has inflicted on so many people.

No one knows (except the professionals involved on the case)at this point what led up to the horrendous act of murder. MURDER is a crime and I agree no matter what the circumstances, it is very much punishable. What we do know is that the two of them knew each other for approx. 6 years and apparently there was an agreement to go back to the suspects home. This was no random act. Apparently something triggered the act of murder. Everyone has ghosts in their closets. There is no doubt he killed her, a coward would run and hide, not call police and admit. There are two sides to every story. Unfortunately one side may never be told. May both families that he destroyed try to find peace.

AGREEMENT TO GO BACK TO SOMEONE'S HOME - she agreed to watch a baseball game with him. Do you think for one second that she thought her life was going to be taken so brutally!? If you think she was there for more, you obviously never met here and have no involvement in the case. Way to try and blame the victim. If you knew more actual facts of the case, you would be ashaned of your attempt to assign the victim any blame whatsoever.

He doesn't deserve anyone's prayers. He took an innocent person's life. I hope justice is truly served and he rots in prison. If he was really a decent person, he wouldn't be hiding behind an insanity plea like a coward. He "attempted" suicide to look like he had remorse. It's just too bad he wasn't successful. He has devastated Dana's family, friends and everyone that knew her not to mention his own family and friends. Disgusting.

From what I have been told about this piece of scum "suspect", he seems to believe he is brilliant. I find it repulsive, that so many people today hide behind these psychological terms. It's way too easy. I am in the criminal justice profession myself. I know enough to know the real deal from a fraud. This guy is a total fraud. Let's hope the criminal justice system in Cook County can see that.

Two sides to every story? You are thoughtless and stupid person. He took a life that wasn't his to take. End of story. He was too much of a coward to take his own. Hopefully nothing this tragic will ever happen to you or anyone you love. I wonder if you will feel the same way if it does. I wonder if you will be so compassionate. I would think not. I hope no one as stupid as you sits on his jury. I hope his jury is full of people who know right from wrong. What he did was wrong and anyone that suggests that the victim should own some of the blame for what happened is a total moron. Should the victims of 9/11 shoulder some of the blame because they showed up to work that day? You idiot! To all others, thanks for demonstrating that most people know right from wrong. Dana was a lovely and vibrant person. Her death at the hands of Patrick Ford is as wrong as wrong gets. Thanks.

i used to work with patrick ford and i can't believe he did this crime.he seemed like a normal kind of guy to me and i'm blown away at his actions. i feel bad for dana's family and pat's mom and sisters. i'm still in major shock and i wish i knew what came over him to kill this poor innocent girl..maybe he was sick and mental and no one ever knew. the more i look at dana's pic. she reminds me of his ex girlfriend and i feel he probably took it out on dana..who knows..regardless his life is OVER and deserves full punishment.

Everyone deserves prayers. For one to make a comment like that, one must not believe in the heavenly father Jahovah or what name you chose to reference. We wil continue to pray for everyone and let no man judge. I don't agree with what he did but we all have to account for our actions when the time comes

Dana was absolutely NOT dating him. She lived in Minnesota. She had a life up there. She was only home visiting. I know way more than I can tell any of you here. Those of you who think Dana brought any of this on will be sickened when the facts come out at the trial. First degree murder implies intent . . .

when is the trial? I wish I could find out why he did this and why he snapped that day, it just blows me away

I am very close to the girl that was living with Pat at the time of the murder. I know for a fact that she had moved out just hours prior to the murder taking place and they were still dating at the time. I believe that Pat is a very sadistic person and his former girlfriend did not drive him to this, nor did the victim. The gruesome details will indeed come out during the trial. Our hearts go out to Dana's family and friends.

They were not broken up. Please read what I posted. It clearly says that they were still dating. Unless you are in the same mind frame as he is, I don't think you'll get that answer. I won't answer the other questions. Not my place.

Patrick was an idiot, from the first time i met him, he just rubbed me the wrong way! Just something about him just didn't click. I showed his picture (mug shot) to someone, that had never met him... and the first thing they said is, he looks like someone that thinks he's above everyone, smarter then everyone. As one poster said: he thinks he's "brilliant". I hope he gets life in prison, and never gets parole. From everything I've read about Dana... she was a wonderful, talented, loving and caring person... extremely smart... and very well loved and liked by others... the kind of friend, that most people would want in there life, with a great future ahead of her..... anyone that thinks it was in anyway her fault, is an idiot. May Patrick rot in hell.
