it is not about frank clark, its merely common sense, one is taught at a hunter safety class that#1 identify your target,and#2 identify surrondings such as near,or behind it.

LOL I wonder what the charge for stuffing and mounting him would be. Sorry not a Frank Clark fan. But hey I htink they did they right thing here you have to be responsible for your actions. I hate to see accidents like this but you cant ignore when peoples actions are absent of common sense and completly reckless. |

You are absolutely right, 100% |

there is no acceptable excuse for what happened With the equipment this irresponsible fool had ,it is impossible to make this mistake You cannot look into a scope that is strong enough to differentiate a penny from a dime at 100 yards and mistake a hunter wearing blaze orange from his head to his waist for a deer and at only 80 yards He has to be held accountable for his actions It is in the best interest of every responsible hunter and Brandon Haugh's family deserves to see some form of justice served

I am sitting here smiling after reading this! I am an avid hunter and have been for at least 15 years, and I have never even come close to shooting someone else. I for years have complained to fellow hunters about the idiots in the woods nowadays, with their semiauto shotguns and "if it's brown, put it down" attitude. It's great that the DA down there is making this guy take responsibility for what has happened. It has been a long time since I took my hunters safety course, but I seem to remember something about not shooting unless your target is clearly in view without obstruction. Know your area, know who's there and be careful for crying out loud!

Killing for pleasure is WRONG!
Too bad the animals can't fight back and make sport out of killing the hunter/killers. |
What about Cheney?? He's a free man?? |
Can't we all just get along ???
Thank you finally some sane comments! This man needs to pay for his carelessness.Brandon was a very safe hunter and this is very tragic. No one deserves to die from the hands of a careless neglectful person! |

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed, that as a major election approaches, all of a sudden, there are a whole lot more deaths (both accidental as well as intentional) involving guns???
Wondering if any were actually "accidental"........ Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmm.......... |
Are you an idiot or what this was a tragic accident moron! |

Daily Reporter Wed Jan 16, 2008, 10:41 AM EST ---------- Story Tools: Email This | Print This ALMOND - "The deer hunter accused of shooting another north of Almond in December has waived his rights to a preliminary hearing, according to the district attorney and town justice handling the case. According to Allegany County District Attorney Terrence Parker on Monday, the manslaughter charges against John Gisel, 38, of Webster, are being transferred from Almond town court to the Allegany county court. “Local courts only have preliminary jurisdiction in felony cases,” he said, adding local courts can arraign defendants on felony counts or hold preliminary hearings if the defense requests them. “We received a letter from his attorney, John Sparanza of Rochester, asking to transfer the case to county court,” Parker said, adding Gisel is waiving any preliminary hearings. The official word from the Almond town court, however, is not in yet. “The court clerks do not add anything to the court schedule without physically having the paperwork in their hands,” he said. According to Almond Town Justice Paul Johnson, he is aware of Gisel’s waiver and will issue an order to send the case to the county court. As for when the case will be heard, Parker thinks it will be sooner rather than later. “(The case) will probably be heard close to the end of the month,” he said. Gisel was charged with killing Brandon D. Haugh, 30, of Geneseo, in the morning hours of Dec. 1, 2007. According to state police, Haugh was shot in the neck by a round from a .30-06 rifle" |
