That's what the bix box stores want you to think. I used to buy new release movies at the Henrietta Wal-Mart because they were the cheapest...I stopped at the Walmart in Geneseo once and saw the new releases were regular price. Well, I did some digging and was told that Walmart stores base their prices on their local competitors...so if a specific store does not have a local competitor for an item, they will charge more for it.

BTW, the Henrietta walmart is usually more expensive than Circuit city or Target on movies now. It seems that they only kept products cheaper during the first two years of the new store.

I have lived here a long time, work at the verizon authorized agent on main st, and would have to say that it is possible to maintain business in dansville despite possibly high rents....are you aware that the blockbuster and rent-a-center over near tops has to pay upwards of 1,000 aor more to rent that space, and you do not see them leaving. We have been successfully open for over two years with a bullet, and if anything are growing. It is true we need some type of box store, that is the foundation of a small town economy, first you need to fill those small jobs to get some type of base, you really cant expect companies like paychex, xerox, kodak, bausch and lomb etc to just show up and be the only big business there. Rochester is a lot closer than people make it sound to be, and until a Best-Buy, home depot or mall is present theres no reason for people to come here...for any reason. Stores like that in rochester are already stealing business, as business people it is your job to give the service/price that keeps people coming. We dont always offer the best price, sometimes we cant, but I guarantee you short of repair we can usually beat the service/knowledge level of almost any store in WNY and there are a lot of those type places in dansville. Whens the last time you went to a city and the person working with you really talked with you about a project, usually they just point you toward an isle. Be thankfull of our town, much of what we have is not easy to find, and we should all help it grow.
