For whatever reason, know matter how much it hurts, god knows what he is doing. Maybe it would have been worse later down the road so he took them to be with him now. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

WELL SAID, WE SHOULD ALL LEARN FROM THIS FATHERS MISTAKES, I'M SURE IF HE COULD DO IT OVER HE WOULD DO THINGS DIFFERENTLY. |
How absolutely horrible, I will keep them in my prayers and the family!

We have become a nation of fear!! we are always afraid to do anything anymore for fear of being to dangerous!! Accidents happen, the loss hurts, but move on people! And stop with all this keep you in your prayers stuff, its kind of hard to swallow when you can sit back and allow millions of kids to be murdered with abortion, and do nothing!!!!I guess its only tragic after the kid is born?

stupid.....stupid .....stupid....get r done

I think all atvs should be outlawed. They are very dangerous and should not be for childern to ride.My daughter was almost killed while riding one.I took 19 staples to sew her neck back together, and 15 stitches in her hands. As a parent I urge other parents to please not let their childern get on one.
and what happens if you buy used? no one will take the time to train those people. |
very sad story!! Too bad lessons are learned this way. DONT TAKE SMALL KIDS ON ATVs. We know YOU are a good driver and NO accidents would EVER happen to you!! come on, pull your heads out. That boy would still be alive if the parents werent so foolish.
Stupid to even think about outlawing them!! You might as well keep your kids inside in a bubble!! They(atv's) are no more dangerous than a bike, skateboard, trampoline, or playing sports!!! Bunch of pathedic people, always jumping on the band wagon without any facts at all!!! |
Dont call others patheTic because they want to keep kids safe. You others who think its ok to place children in harms way, probably let your children run with scissors Too!!
How is it placing kids in harms way? When I was a kid we rode in the back of trucks, we rode on the tailgates, we didnt wear seatbelts, not helmets or pads for our bikes, we drank from the hose, we ate dirt and the occasional bug or a dare, so I guess you say that my parents where bad parents? We have our kids so afraid to do anything!! geez people lighten up!!! STOP listening to these safety freaks! who find a danger around anything, and stop listening to these people who dont even have kids giving advice!! |

Unfortunately, people just aren't safety aware. They don't think about danger. They don't think about "what ifs".
What's next? Are we going to hear about a guy having an accident teaching his 3 year old how to juggle chainsaws? I know it sounds dumb, but people do these things and then later, it is so tragic. In most cases, these are young parents, sometimes barely adults themselves, and they think they will live forever, so they aren't thinking about protecting their children. There's nothing that can be said to ease the pain of this family, and unfortunately, we'll keep seeing these things happen from time to time, because it's just the nature of human beings (especially young ones who have small children). |
"How is it placing kids in harms way?" You've got to be kidding. This poor child died because his father placed him in harms way. ATVs are made for adults, not toddlers. Putting a baby or toddler in front of you on one is careless. If your toddler wants an ATV go buy him one of the battery powered ones at ToysRUs, don't take him out on trails in the dark. It sounds like the way you grew up was just normal for the times. I did many of the things you mentioned and remember those times well, but things have changed. The safety equipment we have now wasn't available back then. My boys have had a go-kart, dirt bike and 4-wheeler, but were never allowed on any of them without crash helmets and never rode them after dark. I don't feel they were deprived of fun, but they were protected while having their fun. |

i know i have a 2 year old that would wiggle too much to ride any thing other than his little 4 wheeler that cant move him through the grass in my backyard. it is a sad mistake and now the father will have to live with it. i know i've been thrown off one but i was 19 at the time, but boy did that hurt! everyone should just be more careful.

You might have missed in the report that the father was also killed, so he won't have to live with it, the mom will. I feel so sorry for her. I can't imagine what she's going through. My prayers go out to her. |

It's the parents keep their children safe and they make the decision to put them in harms way. If you don't want you child to ride, then don't buy him a 500lb machine that is made to be handled by someone who can use common sense & adult logic. Keep your kid safe, but those who would sacrifice freedom for liberty deserve neither!(paraphrased from B. Franklin, I think) I'm tired of people making stupid decisions and getting the "rules" changed just for them. Don't buy it for you kid, if you're not going to take the responsibility for what happens.
I feel really badly for this family, I hate that this happened to anyone, but don't turn this families tragedy into a chance to outlaw ATV's, just use the common sense that God endowed you with for once & don't buy one. It's not like the mfg'ers are giving them away to unsuspecting children.

I can kind of see where you are coming from. Your daughter is 4 though...I said I wouldn't let my 2yo on an ATV because within the two years of being 2 and 4 your motor skills grow and you have learned a lot in those two years. And I don't believe that bluffs, cliffs or trails should be traveled by any two passangers because they are made for one person only. That is what the warning signs are for on the side of the front wheel guard (most of them are on the tire guard). I don't think that puttin in your front yard at less than 5 mph is necessarily wrong, as long as she has a properly fitting helmet on and you are holding her. But for me, I wouldn't allow my child to participate. Im not saying you are wrong, but for me I just frown upon it. |
You must be someone who dosent care what your childern are doing or even where they are at,or you dont even have kids.Your pathedic attitude might change if it ever happens to someone you love. When you have to see first hand the danger of atvs! And what kind of facts do I need ,other the see my daughters throat slit from ear to ear! |
Us safety freaks is what keeps are kids alive.Get a life! |
And by the way, this isnt 1950!If more cared about their kids, and watched them closly, there would probably be alot less accidents. |
