Centralia Interest

This is a topic, not pointing towards any politics or news, but just for the simple fact of expressing my interest in Centralia itself. I'm planning on taking a trip there with my husband and would like to hear from Centralia residents themselves to give me any tips or anything I would need to know. I appreciate all the help that is given and I do hope that someone will respond to make our trip an even better one.

Centralia doesn't have many homeowners in it anymore, they are spread around the area due to the buyout from the government. There is a website hosted by a former Centralian, I'm not sure of the site, but if you google it, you may find it. There is also the Pioneer Coal Mine Tunnel tour in nearby Ashland, the Yuengling Brewery about 15 miles south of Centralia in Pottsville, the oldest brewery in the United States, and Knoebels Amusement Park in Elysburg. They are all fun places to visit during your stay in Pennsylvania. Hope you have fun

Recently took a trip to Centralia we were disappointed not to be able to talk to any of the current residents I am interested in making a documentary on the grief these people must feel at a Goverment who did nothing in the wake a disaster!If someone who is currently living there would contact me I would be so grateful.I can be reached at email [e-mail]

[Case]

I went to Centralia with my girlfriend last November, and it was amazingly fun. Make sure to walk past the mound of gravel where the main road turns to follow the part of the highway that was abandoned because the gases caused the road to break open. And also travel up on the hill by the cemetery to watch the smoke bellowing out of the ground. Truly amazing.
