Schuberts will NEVER live up to the standard for excellence that The Blue Sky Cafe brought to Mt. Horeb.

lisa, have you no appreciation of what the true "people of mount horeb" and our visitors want? we want schubert's. we want potato sausage. we want three generations of schuberts and their older "experienced" waitresses serving us. we want to know what's going on in the community. we want the feeling of belonging that only schubert's can give us.
also, tourists want schubert's. they want a diner where even visitors from other small towns feel comfortable. high-end coffee diners are a dime-a-dozen. the food at the blue sky was not 'excellent', original, or even particularly appetizing. and, even though it was in the same building, had none of the charm and tradition of schubert's. schubert's is as "original" as apple pie (or rosettes).
i think we want, no need, what's familiar, traditional... that's part of the fun. plus, the food ROCKS. if a friend could be a diner, that diner would be schubert's. all hail the return of schubert's!!!!!
come one, come all, to an american original. schubert's won't disappoint! dour expression in place, jerry WILL be happy to see you, he'll feed you well, and treat you right. it's the real deal, folks.

I would have to agree with Erin, it is a great place with GREAT food. I was impressed with the service and the food - there are so many "new" type of restaurants, I like the old fashioned diners and I am only 35:) When I travel, I like to eat at the the old fashioned type diners where you can talk to locals and get great food.

So, you really know the family well, huh? What an incredibly ridiculous thing to write Ralph. I am so pleased that Schuberts is back and that Jerry and Jim are doing well. Its a fine restaurant, real food, and you will always be treated well. Ralph, I feel sorry for people like you who are so tuned to criticism that you are unable to compliment.
