everyone knows nadir hasan's name. even people like me that have a hard time with muslim names, knows his name. timothy mc vey, o j simpson, lee harvey oswald, ted bundy, john wilkes boothe, jeffrey dalmer, sirhan sirhan, charles manson, osama bin laden, et al. just like "Cheers" we have become a country where everyone knows the names [of murders].

quick.......quick.......list 10 murders and 10 heroes. probably none of us [me included] can come up with the names of 10 current heroes. today makes me sad.

missing my little-est baby boy today,. not like Hollyhocks is missing hers, i know. but, it has been almost 2 weeks since i have seen him or been with him or felt his baby breath laugh. i can't help but think of all of those in the service that are woefully far away, and have no idea when they will smell the scent of those they yearn for, those they love. those who have sons so far away, maybe so far they will never come back to this earth. and fathers and brothers and nephews and friends. oh this day of unsung heroes and those unrecognized heroes.

hello blue moon! may i call you that since i can barely say hydrengea, let alone spell it. i love the blue ones the best too. i can't believe how if you pick them green and put inside in a vase of water that they will turn blue. when i saw yours, they were so beautiful and perfect that i thought they were fake. i couldn't believe that they don't shed when they dry.
well, this is a nice place, filled with flowers and jewelry and good old southern sweet potatoes charm. it's a nice respite, yes?
speaking of southern charm, i recently read a book that reminds me of our very own sweet potato. "Ida Mae Tutweiler and the Traveling Tea Party" by Ginnie Bivona. it is a small easy reading book that is just plain lovely to read. at the end of the book, the author has her favourite southern recipes from her childhood. you could have written the book SP. it is exactly your style.
the book sounds like a great read. Thank you. Check your email for something about veterans.

There area many veterans that I know and love. But for now, one name comes to mind. Someone who was taken from this world all too young while serving our country in a war zone: Benjamin Dillon, rest in peace

if i remember correctly, Benjamin is your nephew.

i've been listening to mike trivassono this afternoon. remember him? some of the ugliest anti american calls i have ever heard. made me sit here and cry hot tears. never before, in my entire life, have i ever heard people spout such hatred for America and our soldiers and veterans. since our newest president, liberals[many] have become emboldened to say the most despicable things. if you can listen to 11.00 WTAM, you can hear Alex, the woman who says: "I am glad that these flag waving morons are dying off every day." many agree with her, but, my God, it would give you chills to hear the people that call in that are fighting and praising our beloved country and our beloved veterans and those that are currently *serving* us.

you'll see yourself and see what i mean when you read the book. it's not a massive blockbuster; but, you will *get it*. somehow, i can just see the recipe as yours.

good morning flowers and jewels and bling and things. just another day in the midwest. it's been a rather pretty Indian Summer week so far, although my car was frosted over when i went out early this morning. the only thing i have to say that i like about the colder weather is the clothes. boots, jackets, turtlenecks to cover my neck, hoodies with pockets to carry my cell and cigs and lighter and loose change. those long ratty sweater coats are back in style, leftover from the 60's, 70's. i admit to liking them because they feel like wearing a fashionable blanket. duh! i even think those "snuggies" are a good idea and if someone bought me one, i would probably live in it.[i'd never admit to buying my own] i just don't know if i'd want animal print, neon, or plain jane-ish.

have a grand day, all y'all. i plan on doing the same.

Good morning to you, too! Boy are you good. Actually, though, Ben was my cousins son.. Close to being a nephew, eh?

Secretly, I like the idea of a snuggie. Plow and Hearth have a new take on a throw blanket. The bottom is sewn in two places to keep the feet. However, I'm afraid if I got one and went to get up, I'd forget where the feet are and trip and fall. Alas, baby proof the house for me. LOL

40s here for 7am and will get into the low 60s. Sierras have snow and if you're going to Tahoe, the interstate is closed for now and chains are required. Brrrr, don't miss it for one moment.

Have yourself a marvelous day---you deserve it.

now why didn't we think of making those snuggies? i could have spent my free time sewing them up on my old portable Singer instead of dicking around on my laptop. i'd be counting my millions as we speak.

and I could have bought a castle for a house.

Thank you for your remembering. Something freaky happened to me earlier this week. Saw a guy late 20s/early 30s and except he was about 4" shorter, he could have been cloned as Michael. OMG, the creases in his face, eye shape, hair color and style, swagger, smoking a cig, wiped his mouth with the bottom of his shirt, expressions when he spoke. OMG--it was a DEAD RINGER!!!! I wish I would have had a pic of Michael with me. It was f'g unbelievable. This happened on Tuesday, and all day I couldn't get the pit out of my stomache and the shaking in body out. I know everyone supposedly has a twin, but really. I told a close friend (from back 'home') last night who has known me for 40 years and knew Michael very well and she could fill in the blanks as I described this stranger with Michael's features. I didn't even sleep good and thought after I told my husband about it, the subject was done and over. However, all the rest of the day and then some, I didn't feel right...that feeling of impending doom and just plain out of sorts. Yesterday it hit me why I was feeling that way and it went back to the 'sighting'.(large pause, deep breath). Sorry, didn't mean sound down.

After sharing with my friend, we decided it was his angel that happened to show up at a very unlikely place...

yes, it got to me on so many levels. i immediately thought of you and hesitated to send it on. then when i read your post about michael, and you and your friend concluding it was an angel, i knew it was a sign to send it on. thanks mom. i pray i will never know your pain, and i pray that i can be a good enough friend to understand it. you are really loved and appreciated and thought of and prayed for, perhaps, more than you know.

"Blue Moon. you knew just what I was there for
You heard me saying a prayer for
Someone I really could care for...."

Interestingly, the song was written in 1934 for Jean Harlow because she had an overwhelming desire to be a movie star and to be noticed and recognized and to find love.

thank you. today, has been an exceptionally hard day. I think I'm just exhausted from two back to back trips to the central valley to see yet more homes. Sometimes when I am totally exhausted I hit my weakest moments.

God bless you all.
