I also know Eric and have known him for several years. i know him as one of the most caring straight forward guys you could ever meet. words can not discribe how out of character this tragic situation seems for him. my thoughts are with all involved in the horrible horrible situation.

Focus on the obvious

I'm sure Eric USED to be a good person... a good person does not show up at someone's house with guns to kill a man and his child. Who cares what the motive was. He was at the Wireman's home to kill them. Mr. Wireman fought the man that came to murder him and his youngest child. Scared and exhausted he briefly escaped indoors and only came out when he knew it was safe... he then saved that mans life. That man traumatized Mr.Wireman and his family and you people are questioning why he waited???

Wow. You seem to know much detail about this case, the people involved and what happened there that night. Sounds like you have the inside info. Maybe you could help the investigators. Give them your help. That would be great.

Obvious, No one is saying that attempting murder is ok' it is undeniably wrong. What we are saying is that in knowing Eric there is much more here than meets the eye. Please consider that the whole story is from wiremens mouth. There were no other adult witnesses and Eric cannot speak for himself. There are so many unknowns here. What I do know is his family is in an incredble amount of pain and if you could hear the cries I heard perhaps your cold heart would break. Please try to show a little compassion during a very tragic and puzzling event. -Thank You

More to obvious, You do have an interresting extra relay of events that don't exactly line up with even the news articles on the event. I don't know if it is because you simply wanted to imbellish or you know something. Who are you?????

I think you all should know that the story the papers is printing is all a lie. Eric will tell the truth when he can. The facts are not true....Eric was shot, but not by himself

Rarely does someone go to the door of an upstanding memeber of the community and threaten to kill them... Was it drugs,theft, to even a score? I would think the neighbors would like to know, maybe he had the wrong address....

This is -so- different from the Eric I know... He's been a gracious host and tireless steward of the mountain bike rails at Winona Lake. I wonder what made him snap. I wish him a complete and speedy recovery.
I'm glad that Eric Wireman and his family were unhurt, although I'm sure this horrible event will reverberate for a long time.

A Paramedics 1st job is to save life's but i even wonder if it means when someone is trying to take you're life as well. What is this world coming to! With all the life's being taken these past weeks i really wonder if the Police can handle the strain of all the voilance that will arrise when summer time hits and kids are out of school.
With no new cadets from police academy due to Gov Switch Daniels tax plan that hurts all Local & federal Gov being able to support programs like this one.

There has been elevated recent violence in Fort Wayne and South Bend. Historically, as the economy becomes less stable and poverty rises, violent crime increases including gang and domestic violence. There are a lot of people who lack basic love and use their fists and guns as a form of communication/power. I think the situation in Etna Green is vastly different than gang violence while certainly a painful situation for those involved.
I don't have an answer to stopping violence. I think it starts with helping all children learn to communicate because by the time we reach our teens, it's a little late in the game while still possible to reach teens.
