Yes, open carry is legal but I think that tends to make you more of a target then Joe Schmoe who keeps it in the small of his back. Alot of people fear firearms and view ccl holders as thugs and paranoids but look at the stories you about people who saved themselves and or family members. My wife refuses to carry so I bought her grizzly bear mace.LOL, not my choice but better then nothing!

Either way I think a citizen who carries mace, a stun gun or a pistol for self defense is playing it very smart in this day and age. I refuse to see my family or I turn into victims because of a low life who refuses to work a nine to five like the rest of us wants our money or WORSE. Mom of second grader, I'm glad to see you are thinking of getting a CCL. Trust me when I say that even if you get it and don't ever use it(hope not), there will be times where you are glad you have it because its that little piece o' mind. If you are looking, check out the Kel-tec line of firearms or the smaller frame revolvers by Smith and wesson. They are light weight, concealable, the rounds they shoot have low recoil and are made to fit smaller hands.

Take care

If they're locked away could you get to them quickly enough in case of something like a home invasion? My suggestion would be a large dog who can give you those extra seconds needed in that case.
Dogs are great, cheap and efficient house alarms. Even if you got a chihuahua they will let you know as soon as a door handle wiggles. Yes, if you have the proper set up for retrieving you home defense weapon. Some of these options are expensive, but what is the price of your families safety?

This place is right along Route 30 on top of the hill just up from Mister Eds. I travel past there everyday on my way home. The parking lot is always dark at night and I've never really seen too many customers there durning the day. I figured it wouldn't be too long before they went out of business.

Hey Mr. Right--You are a perfect example of what's wrong with our country today. Everyone is presumed guilty, and you would enjoy a shootout on every street corner. I'd be afraid to go shopping and go to church with people like you in town. Stop reading True Detective and be proactive.

Hey Klueless Klaus there are bad people out there that want to take what others have sometimes forcibly. I choose to not be a victim. You don't see it but there are people just like Mr. Right all around you every day unless you live a solitary life. Hope you are never in a life threatening situation but if you are, just hide behind one of us. That's about as proactive as you should be.

Thats fine Klaus, you have your opinion. Hopefully if you are ever attacked or being mugged somebody with a CCL will help you. It may change your perspective. Sorry, I never heard of True Detective, I have heard of the U.S. Marines though and they taught us that only we as individuals control our destiny and that if we want to live a long and fruitfull life then we must be "prepared
' "vigilant" and "protective" of our lives as well as our family friends and innocents.
And don't sound so sure about yourself, someone you deal with one a normal shopping trip or a visit to church may have a CCL and you'll never know it until the day they may save you or your families life. Take care Klaus and have a great day kowing that someone right in front of you may have a gun on their person for protection.

Oh and do you see the good in everyone? I am almost sure if you were walking down the street and came upon a group of younger men who were on the thuggish looking side or in a store and saw a guy wearing a trench coat and talking to himself you'd just stroll up to them and introduce yourself and talk to them about the meaning of life!!

Get real, Us CCL holders don't go around looking and judging others and think that the bad man is is coming for us, we wear a gun to insure the safety of ourselves, family and others so that it won't be trampled on by someone who is out to harm us or rob us. You feel free to be stepped upon and taken advantage of.. I however refuse to be a victim and wait for the cops to get there 5 minutes too late.

Better to be judged by twelve then carried by six!

Maybe just run or curl-up in the fetal position & hope for the best? Not me friend. Blowin' heads off is for the movies. You should always aim for center mass. FYI.
