Stop letting 80 year olds drive cars!

Stop letting idiots talk on cell phones and read books and put on make-up while they "drive" cars!

Have any of you ever driven on 116?
It's a very nasty road thats quite dangerous no matter who is driving. There are houses lining the road on both sides and with quick steep hills and a speed limit set at 45mph. Add in wet or nasty weather and the danger of it increases tenfold.
Too many times have I seen near-misses with people pulling in or out of their driveway, and someone comes flying up over the hill and having to slam on their brakes to avoid slamming into them. Evening is actually safer to drive that route because you can see headlights of approaching vehicles coming over the hills.
With that, maybe you should be a little more informed about the subject of interest before you make ignorant comments.

The 80 year old is the one at fault here!!! Everyone knows the older you get, the slower your reaction time is. I drive 116 everyday & yes, it is dangerous, but any road can be dangerous when people do not pay attention! All seniors should have their driving skills evaluated periodically. Not only to protect others, but to protect themselves as well.

I, myself, was personally there to see the aftermath of the accident with the responding emergency crews, so I know of the exact spot where it had occurred and it was a blind spot just as I had mentioned earlier. The picture shown with the article would suggest otherwise, but that's more of an optical illusion. You blame the accident on the mans age and reaction time when you may be partially right. I know of older citizens who are in better shape mentally and physically than someone half their age. If the driver was a teenager, you would blame it on inexperience. If it was a mother with a car full of kids, you would blame it on distraction. Regardless, I find it insulting to stereotype and label someone as such. The road itself is a major factor, and I'm sure not just the only one either.

This is the 3rd accident i have read about in the past few days where the "Elderly" was the cause of an accident.
I think there should be a driving test givin to everyone when they reach the age of 65 then every year after they turn 70

WE will ALL be ELderly one day. take it easy on them. If EVERYONE slowed down, didnt talk on their cell phones, etc. Maybe we could all make the roads a safer place. At least he wasnt drunk ...accidents do happen,,,and that appears to be what this one was. Give the man a break.
