I was raised with many Mexicans, salt of the earth people, and by the way made better of themselves through education and hard work. Most of the ones I know who are Americans resent just as much, the illegal invasion, because they are just as sick of paying for it, as any other American of race. I don't hate Mexicans, they are good people, I hate having to pay for someone else's illegality.

So don't tell me about work that we don't want to do, we are capable of doing hard labor if needed, but the majority of us go to school to prevent us from doing that type of work, and of course get better pay. If the farmers paid $16.00 per hour I can bet that many americans would be working the fields and other jobs that "mexicans" work here if they paid more, but because you all come here and take the lower paying jobs only because some employers are after to save the mighty dollar they pay "mexicans" lower than minimum wage. So we are not afraid of working those jobs, we are just more educated and will not settle for less. I dislike that WE have to cater to your needs (press 1 for english, 2 for spanish) you are in our country so learn the language, would we have the same in mexico? why don't the other nationalites have this right? I am speaking of other ethnics. People from other countries come here and start their businesses, they are not at the mercy of welfare and other freebies, they're children even get to go to college, where our children sometimes can't qualify for a loan because their parents earn too much or are middle income. I know because it happened to my children! But here is the clincher! Ask any mexican "do you like it here?" the majority will say "NO, mexico is much prettier and blah, blah, blah I'm just here to work for my family and send money home to them" they have no plans of becoming US citizens because they will retire and go back to mexico and retire with what they have sent home all those years. I could go on and on, but since you asked the question I gave you mine. Take it with a grain of salt.

You want to force me to speak your language (which I can) but you live in the US and yes the US will cater to you, but with the language I will not cater to you, why the schools are telling teachers to learn spanish is beyond me, yes it's ok to start off the student in spanish but progress to english. You are all in for a rude awakening, you are in America, not in Mexico!

Ok, to all the sticklers for perfect English grammar here. This isn't a college paper. These are people who are expressing free flowing thoughts. You might equte this type of commentary as "thinking and writing out loud." Yes, we should all try to use the best English writing we know how to write. But, we all make mistakes and on these postings of passion as I like to call them, accidents will happen. Advice? You might try to be more understanding and grateful that in this apathetic town at least people are making an attempt to give their opinions.

Great Post Jewel! We are all descended from other countries and regions (and yes, even the so-called Native Americans are from Asia). It is a divider to be so caught up in the Hyphenated-American scam. We (those of us who have earned a right to be here) are ALL AMERICANS.
