As a mother of an Autistic Adult son, I am angry and saddened that this young man suffered on daily basis. This definitely should cause legislative changes so that Social Services can schedule regularly visits to homes of special people, or are required to track their whereabouts. There should be laws enacted so that crimes against the developmentally disabled have special penalties. People- especially practicing Christians-- need to do more by reporting cruel behavior to Developmentally Disabled people. Autism is affecting everyone. Take note Wisconsin legislators--you know someone who has Autism. This could happen to them. This innocent soul was tortured because he was different and could not control his behavior. We have special laws named after children who were killed, Meagan's law, etc. We must do a better job by protecting our most vulnerable. We must have more social opportunities for developmentally disabled adults, because sadistic cockroaches will run when exposed, and being around peers and caring adults will heal the muteness caused by abusive isolation. We now should honor this young man with a law named after him -Matthew's Law- and make sure that this despicable monster never see the light of day again, and are placed where they will never have freedom again.
