Obviously, it would have been preferable to consolidate the company on LI, even if the "rules" had to be stretched, or even ignored. After all, the rules are arbitrary, supposed to be for the public good. The public good is better served by having OSI on LI. People who put rules ahead of common sense do not serve the public.

If the powers that be really wanted to keep OSI here, they could have. Its done elsewhere, upstate and out of state, see the Yahoo! deal in upstate NY: http://www.buffalonews.com/145/story/731108.h... Maybe all the high cost of living has gone to elected officials heads!

Taxes are too high on L.I. Period ! Reason is: Cops are paid too much, school teacher salaries are too high, school administrators are redundant etc. The list could go on for ever. The Chickens are coming home to roost.I'm out of here.My taxes went from $1300. to $17,386. I'm the sap I should have moved years ago. BYE!

frigen A politicians dont care - DEM or REP all they care about is cheating us out of our money, both bush and obama both gave us money at the end of the year, but it was $600 dollars what can anyone do with that! give me thousands of dollars and i will spend it!!. that Espada guy from albany switched sides on 2 issues from DEM to Rep thats why were stuck in albany, he was ellected to vote 1 way only! i say we give anyone elected to office a short term limit vote the new guy in every time and change happens!

Vote every politcian out in the next election. Who care is if you are DEM or Repub. Just vote for the new person.

As a faculty member here I would like to see the bio-tech park grow, but, there are 3 sides to every story:
-OSI
-state sen. Fuschillo's
-the truth
I don't like to see companies leave L.I. but everything is negotiable. If OSI says "take it or leave it" we're better off calling their bluff, and, if they leave, they would have gone eventually anyhow, as soon as a better deal came up.

OOO 200 prob 200,000 a year jobs which will move with them. Its not like we will actually lose those jobs.
Alsowhy in the world should a company get free ride to do what they want with tax payer land. They were on the suny farmingdale campus which is state land.
Farmingdale needs the land to grew into.
Some of yopu should stop the long island bashing to see that its better that they left. A company should not get free reign over tax payer land.

ny ny - what next ?! Hi taxes are the downfall! Not only does it make it impossible to maintain a business, of any size, but very difficult to own a home. When are these damn politicians going to wake up ? Along with the business the employees will leave too - unbelievable !

Teachers and cops are paid fair salaries to maintain a somewhat healthy lifestyle. That is not the problem. Perhaps its triple government !!!! Waste waste waste ! Nassau county is going to borrow money to pay people to retire early, how stupid is that ? mismanagement is the problem ! get rid of all the politicians and start fresh !

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Libra

If you live with other people you have to resign yourself to the fact that you all want to do different things today. The more you urge togetherness, the more everyone will be determined under tonight's Full Moon to do their own thing even if it creates problems. Try to play this down as much as possible because it's also a lunar eclipse and getting angry won't solve anything; it may even make the situation worse. Maybe this is a chance for you to do what you want for a change, too? Anyway, enjoy yourself tonight, Libra because you deserve it!
