a good small country town. years ago when tn was wet and al dry, people would go across the state line to ardmore tn to go to clubs and drink. So ardmore kind of got a bad name. but it no better or worse than any small town. a lot of good people live there.

Its a tiny town thats pretty much about 3 years behind everyone else. I grew up there and if I would have had a choice now that Im looking back, I would have picked somewhere not so backwoods to grow up.

Ardmore was a great little town full of my Family. We visited there many times a year. My Dad was raised in Ardmore and when he took us girls down to visit Family we all hated coming back to this big City we live in now. We felt safe and so Welcome down there. In other words all five of us Girls just loved Ardmore Alabama. Thanks Dad for doing that for us.

I think Ardmore seems like a great place to live, I moved here in 2008. kinda odd to hear so many negative comments on the "Dog Days" comments. I have been there and it's just a very interesting place to go. Everybody I have run into there has been real nice and friendly.

Ardmore has always had wonderful people living there. Most of the trouble that was caused during the 1930s and 1940s was by people coming from the surrounding backwoods and getting into fights. Ardmore City and Town are both well run for small towns, and I think it is still a wonderful place to call home. Just wish I could live there.

We moved to Ardmore, TN in 2005 after driving through here for 30 years. I have lived in other states, small towns and large cities. It's a great little town to live. Sure we don't have some of the big chains and the big city problems. But we do have nice hearted, kind people.
The commute to a major metropolitan area is usually less than 40 minutes in limited traffic.
This is one of the few places left when someone waits on you, they call you "hon". In the big city, they either ignore you or it's "what do ya want?" That's just a small gesture of the generous kindness found throughout this place.

my husband lived next to lake logan for several years. there are a lot of politics in this small community. they're trying to be like a gated community--minus the gates! the lake is manmade and has fish in it, but all the homes have septic tanks and are right on the water---ew!

Not all of us are backwoods folks as has been stated...yes Ardmore is a small town and everyone knows everyone but this community tries to look out for its own...perhaps those of you who haven't been here in awhile should come back and rethink your roots...

You know, I've been asked this question many times...since I went to school there. It was terrible, for me. I wasn't related to anyone around town, so in school, no one welcomed me. I was friendly to everyone, and they were too busy being a "family oriented" town...with a ridiculous clique of people. So ridiculous, that if you weren't related or you didn't grow up there, then you didn't really have a chance for a normal high school life.(Except for some that slipped through the cracks). It may seem friendly just passing through or when you're new in town, but that's not really how it is towards some people. I guess it's random luck to be accepted by them. I was just happy to find out (after graduation) that the rest of the world isn't like that.

I would agree that the town is a bit backwards. Recently a candidate for the police chief's positions withdrew himself for consideration, essentially there were too many political vendettae and small minds, that it wasn't a place for him to operate with any success. Talk about a slap in the face!

There are plenty of good folks in Ardmore. Too bad they're all invisible. The bad apples really make the place look like a redneck hell.

It's time for the good folks to step up and tell the little boy wonders to respect their community and their women or get off the street. It's time to round up all the habitual thieves and druggies and send 'em packin -- Ardmore is suffering because of these stupid fools.

And the real estate tycoons need to get a grip on their pricing; this is not a $100 per sq ft community, and it won't be 'til there are vast improvements in law enforcement and infrastructure.

Great school. Some great folks. No law enforcement. Plenty of infighting. Get to work!

We moved to Ardmore 6 years ago. We have found Ardmore to be a great little town with several good eating establishments, some of the nicest police officers you'll ever meet, homes available in all price ranges, and great folks who love to just "sit and chat". The only downside to Ardmore is that it is very clique-ish. If you weren't born and raised here, or have tons of money, you aren't in the "in" crowd and won't likely ever be no matter how many years you live here. Cedar Hill Elementary has great teachers, most of whom really care and try very hard to teach the kids. Ardmore High School is probably the hardest school I have ever seen to become involved with. It goes back to the "if you weren't born and raised here, you're not one of us" theories. Ardmore continues to grow with new folks coming in so I am hopeful that one day there will be more of us than them.:) We'll see.
