Many people i know from the area will not be attending dog days again. Thanks to Bob Hasting the Mayor ( LOL ) and high school principal for for banning American Pit Bull Terriers from HIS fair city. His insane backwoods excuse was they are used for drug dealer protection and dog fighting. If you are a true animal lover do not spend one dime in this town, there are much nicer places around.

Here you go again..........Ardmore is very nice........ he has to protect his city( which by the way he's only responsible for HALF of) Maybe if we had responsible pit bull owners here who didnt act as redneck and moronic as you're acting, he might allow them. Why havent you proven that there are responsible pit bull owners? The only thing you hear on the news and in the media is that they're used to fight, or for protection for "unruly" characters.......... He's forced to make the decisions he's forced to make. If you know anything about politics, you'll know a mayor cant single handedly make a decision on his own..........its mulled over by several people. Obviously you know nothing about Ardmore, by thinking that Bobby Hastins is the mayor of the whole town. Did you know the school he's principal of, isn't even in Ardmore. Thank you for shining your intellect upon us. PLease dont bother to visit Ardmore again.......and if you do, dont let that pit bull bite you in the ass on the way out.!

Drove down from Chattanooga to shop the 1000 dealers set up at Dog Days over the Labor Day Weekend. JOKE. 100 dealers maybe if you count the yard sale on the way in to the farm. Wasted a day and a full tank of gas to buy a $10 skillet and see some pretty chickens.

1 Mayor Hasting's did have a good point in banning vicious dogs. As a first witness, I can confirm the use of vicious dogs as a means of covering meth manufacture. A little birdy must've told my idiot neighbor the landlord and, subsequently, the fuzz were coming because they "...left like a rusty shot in a hollow sky". The front door has a dead bolt where the knob was supposed to be, so the landlord asked me to break in. When I did a bulldog lunged at me from inside. Luckily he was more hungry than vicious. BTW, Ardmore is NOT a very nice place for many many reasons. We have a meth problem. We have a drunk driver problem. We have a noise pollution problem. We have the pervasive rebel without a cause problem. A few simple efforts on part of law enforcement would yield great results, but we have big city problems with Mayberry RFD's enforcement culture. Sometimes I feel like Lightning McQueen stuck in REDNECK HELL. Sadly, I can't leave without messing up the family, otherwise I'd be LONG GONE. So I'm making a best effort to change the culture. Hah! |

What has happened to the Ardmore I grew up visiting as a child? I am a Maddox and loved nothing more then going down from Michigan to visit our family. Reading all these things that people have been saying I just find it disgusting to say the least. Lets see one person actually called these people REDNECK HELL. Well my dear that REDNECK HELL produced my father the kindest hard working honest man that came out of Ardmore Alabama. Come on up to Detroit and then head on back to Ardmore and you will see what a great heartwarming town that you all live in. Gees get over your self and try to make things better that you are not happy with KAY MADDOX

What level of security is at Dog Days Flea Market since two years ago?
A man was walking with a sword against his arm as he held it in the palm of his hand. He didn't want to sell it or buy a cover for it when a vendor asked him. He walking back and forth like a nut. Another man of South American features was wanting to steal from a vendor. He walked with his hand behind his back ready to unlock the door to the vendor's van. I saw it all. When the two ladies and a child in our area pulled up to leave so did we but not before a group meeting up with the attempted thief came near our vehicle. That was our first and last visit in a flea market. Does anyone know of a safer location with security? |

Well it has been awhile since I have been to Ardmore, but I cant imagine that the drug problem is worse than any other city. It was something we looked forward to every summer going down to see Grandma Maddox. Ardmore was and probably still is the one of the greatest little towns I have ever been to. I have many fond memories of sitting in my uncles grogery store and going to the skating rink. I still have lots of cousins living there and the town is a great place to visit. I also agree with my sister when she wrote how my dad came from Ardmore and he was a great man. You have never met a kinder and more loving person as him. So if people in Ardmore are anything like my dad (Freeman Maddox) then you have some great people there. I would love to get down there for a visit anytime and hope to soon. I guess if you all dont like the town then just stay the heck out of it. As for me, like I said I would spend my vacation there anytime. Loretta (Maddox) Myers

Personally, I love going to DOG Days.. recently I took two of my best friends there and then went on to Nashville to the Opry Mills Mall. They had never been and loved it. I found a beautiful antique bracelet, a lovely purse and wonderful produce there. I had gone to Lacon Flea Market the Saturday before and was sorely dissappointed. I will be going back to Dog Days time and time again |

Do you have a meth lab next door? What about across the street? Do your other neighbors have a hydroponix (marijuana) lab there? Have you had three different drunk drivers wreck their cars in your front yard -- on a straight road? Are there mufflerless trucks running around in your neighborhood all hours of the day and night? What about dragracers? Does law enforcement tolerate the crap where you live and refuse to do anything about it? Are you afraid to have your kids go anywhere outside, unattended, because of the drunks and dopeheads and perverts passing through your neighborhood? Does your house smell like sewage every time it rains because drainage hasn't been improved for 40 years, and you can't get the local government to clean the right-of-way? This is the reality in Ardmore nowadays. This little town of 2,000 now has a murder rate to rival many very large cities(!). Ardmore's always been a little rough, and there are indeed plenty of good people here -- problem is they don't do anything to mitigate the growing number of problems moving into and festuring here. Why don't you come down to Ardmore and plant yourself in Bethel, Oak Grove, Pinedale, or even downtown? You might be alarmed by what you see. |

Bev, The law is the law. I don't make them, but a lot of them make good sense. They're not followed in Ardmore. Has it occured to you that perhaps the laws should be enforced, or that blight and chronic lawbreakers should stay home to themselves or leave? |

Buck All those questions that you asked me about I need to answer. I am from the Detroit area does that answer your question? I can not plant my self in Ardmore but if I ever was to be replanted that is sure were I wouldnt hesitate to go. As bad as it sounds Meth labs Drunk Drivers Corupt Police officers Sewage all of these things are part of our world. I just simply stated as did my sister Loretta that we have many good memories of Ardmore and we were not happy about someone saying REDNECK HELL. My life down there was many years ago Buck but I promise you one thing if all the things that you say were there back then yes we still would of gone down to visit family. I never felt more safe in my life. Maybe it was because I was young and dumb but I always had the Maddox boys to protect me. So sorry if I ruffled your feathers but let me lay the same thing on you if you dont like it why dont you plant your self up here in Detroit? Please dont take that the wrong way. Are they talking about the same Ardmore, Alabama we went to as kids? The man named Buck is from Georgia so what is he worried about? If I remember correctly I think they elect their sheriff down there. Sounds like they need to do some re-electing if they dont like the sheriff they have. Loretta(Maddox) Myers |

I forgot to add that we had a drug raid across the street from me. A registered sex offender 2 doors down for molesting a child age 11 to 13. Then across the street 3 houses down a Federal Air Marshall. We all watched the drug raid together. With all the kids with the radios booming I havent had time to listen for cars without mufflers...LOL...Loretta

dog day is like a big yard sale. It is a fun place to go in the summer time. Ardmore is just a small town with a few problem like everywhere else. Its a good town and have nice people in it, as far as the drugs go, find somewhere that there is no drugs and I think alot of people would be moving there. The maddox girl's Ardmore have grow some but still a small town. No one is going to be please all the time, but if you dont like it that bad why not move.

Its only 40 miles from here to good old dog days and lot of us go there to walk around and shop. The dogs we have seen there have had water bowls and seemed clean and cared for. The venders are for most part friendly and eager to talk.Another flea market I want to go to is in Collinsville AL. Its farther away so harder to make it all the way down there. But anyways...Tennesseans love Ardmore Dog Days!
