i truly foresee professional sports imploding with the obscene salaries athletes are paid. fans are going to get tired of the rising costs to attend ball games. ceo's of major corporations are going to start challenging their marketing executives about advertising on television when consumers are devoing over them. the networks that pay billions for broadcasting rights will watch their revenue fall and won't renew the contracts at the current inflated prices.

most professional athletes could not find another job and make $200,000 a year. most would be thrilled to play ball for $300,000 a year and then your average joe lunch bucket wouldn't have to pay for the obscene salaries they currently receive.

Lou can say anything he wants in his book, but the bottom line is that he sold out the U for ND. Can't say I blame him, but knowing a couple of players on the team at the time, Lou came to a full team meeting a day before he left and told all the players that he wasn't going anywhere. At that time he had already talked with ND and had all but sewed up his new deal. He just flat-out lied to those players face-to-face. Great coach, but I would never trust anything he says.
