St. Paul ex-con says he robbed, killed Irene Kunze, 90

Corey Omar Posley-Wells saw Irene Kunze take out the garbage at her Hopkins apartment and thought she'd be a good target for robbery.

Corey Omar Posley-Wells wins the State of Minnesota Department of Corrections Lottery. It will cost over 1 Million Dollars to keep him locked up now. Maybe 2 million if the Judge throws the books at him.

Another DFL state of Minnesota social expiriment went wrong. Another criminal creation of DFL sentencing guidelines. Minnesota creates serial killers, and sex offenders, it's big business. Let them out, let them run about, rum amok, and roll the dice. That's Minnesota DFL nice.

This DFL nightmare will never end, unless there are 100,000 prison spaces with plans to add 50,000 to 75,000 more, with state mandates, guidelines that the Department of corrections will spend no more then $5000 to $7000 per year to contain these dangerous maniacs. Letting them run the streets, running amok, only locking them up permanently, doing what the DFL complains about...warehousing them only when they committ a murder, then quietly releasing them when nobody is looking in 12 to 17 years, to save money.

It's just going to get worse and worse. It's only luck that Richard Stanek and his crime lab are providing honest services to the citizens of the State of Minnesota, while other crime labs in the state of Minnesota don't provide honest services to the citizens of Minnesota...

I certainly hope the courts show a great deal of compassion for Mr. Posley-Wells. The young man, obviously a victim of society and racial prejudice, needs help and understanding. Something to provide the hugs he lacked as a child. I know that at church tomorrow, I'll ask for the congregation to offer up prayers for this poor despondent soul. I pray the courts will give serious thought to a fine, and probation, as opposed to incarceration. Everyone deserves a second chance.

Oh by the way, just love what Mr. Posley-Wells has done with his hair. It's quite a fetching look, don't you think?

Look at MN's probation/incarceration rate.(2nd to last in the nation in incarceration)

Look at the size of our legislature(country's 4th largest)

Look at what we spend on welfare vs. prisons.

It all adds up to a thugalisciouis life in MN for professional criminals.

None of this will change (and, as "Lottery Winner" astutely observed, it will only continue to worsen) until we, the people, acquire the collective voice to install politicians who will enact different laws and who will appoint judges that will deal differently with these types of offenders.

My concern is that the continuing spiral of violence, coupled with increased perception of official helplessness, will eventually spark a wave of vigilantism. That is the last thing we need. This problem CAN BE SOLVED, and it can be solved with due process. It's just goung to take time, and determination, and diligence.

Sounds to me like this thug is out wilding and doing hate crimes. Our judicial system is just as sick as this thug. Let's examine his family structure and see how well his Momma "raised" him.
This diversity is great isn't it? If it isn't just sliming out into the "burbs", our government
imports it from foreign countries, or helps it spread via college athletics. These people are unable to help themselves, so the system needs to lock them up at hard labor. And also make the welfare recipients work for their check, because these mothers sure aren't busy raising their kids.

DFL sentencing guidelines? Didn't the Republicans control the MN House of Representatives for most of the past decade? Also, how long has it been since MN had a DFL governor.

Typically, the professional criminals don't get caught. Although it feels as though we should lock them all up and throw away the key, the reality is that this practice has not yet been proven to reduce recidivism is expensive and does not deter crime. Yes, we do want extra fingers in the ribs of those recently released, however, more and more people being released from prison have serious mental health issues combined with chemical abuse and are walking around untreated, homeless and jobless as a result of the throw away the key attitude. In prison however, many receive treatment, meds, shelter and regular meals. It's upon release that many resources dry up. Some ex offenders are being released without housing, access to employment and other services which despite how it sounds has shown to reduce recidivism. How many communities want to take on the challenge of integration because one day, many of these offenders will return to the communities, whether we are ready, or not.

Mr. T: The saddest assumption for you to have is that crime doesn't occur in the suburbs. It sounds as though you would like to dilute yourself into believing the crime is a racial, urban, or low income problem. To be honest, the suburbs are where all the sexual predators live with you and those like you protect them by your ignorance, where the husband kills the wife and children and then tries to kill himself and you with great confidence send your child off to the henhouse full of disillusion. Wake up guy, crime is mobile, and it's everywhere. Do your family a favor don't assume, it could potentially save a life.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the Minnesota Senate has been controlled by the DFL since the early 1970s. The Republicans only have controlled the House for six years out of the last 53 the DFL has controlled them.

The DFL and Progressive Minnesota have really screwed things up. The good people like Irene Kunze are just prey for thugs like Posley-Wells and the DFL Party supports this line of thinking. Give them all hugs and have them promise not to do it again. Next they will be paying thugs like this jail for cleaning the floor, oh wait they already do. Some get as much as $5.00 an hour for their jail work. Good deal. We jail them and then pay them to do chores.

It appears that Republicans / Conservatives want longer sentencing. Good idea, espcially for creeps like this guy. But are Republicans *willing to pay higher taxes* in order to build more prisons, so that these guys can be housed for longer periods of time?
