I went to Megargel High School in 1968/1969 thanks to help from some wonderful people like Wayne and Marquita Echols. I ran away from home at the age of 15 and they, as well as others, shared their homes with me. My life and education has carried me through many events in my life.

You remember me?
I have been here in Megargel since August 1964. Enjoyed your comments and have tried to put this on the postings. Seems like I last saw you in Jean at that little cafe or something. I guess you are aware that Marquita passed away after stuggling a few years with cancer. I found this site last year but have not been able to post anything on it till this morning. It was great to find some one from Megargel that has left but still has roots here.

How will this impact the students/town? I grew up in Throckmorton and competed with Megargel in Basketball and loved it!!!!

When Megargel consolidated with Olney, you would think that since they doubled their school tax money that we would get a break in property taxes. It did not happen. Also there are no spots on the school board for people from Megargel. All the places in the district are in Olney. You would think that with half of the school tax money coming from the Megargel area that we would be represented by at least half the school board being from Megargel.

You know, we were wondering the same thing. Why didn't our taxes go down when Olney doubled their tax rolls and keep increasing the value of our property when the economy is in such bad shape.
