Anyone know what year the other twister hit the North end of Wichita Falls and damaged S.A.F.B.?

I was just a little kid at the time but can recall a lot of those large barracks houses being damaged. Years later a neighbor down the road bought one of them and moved it out to the lake and turned it into a huge home for his future family, which he eventually created. I'll bet he still lives at that mud hole they call a lake.

Sorry --- my grandad would have known the answer to your question but he died a decade ago. I'll look through his things again and see if any of the old news papers he saved mention it. They have to be good for something, right ?

I'll be damned. Both of those bastards hit during the same month. What was that; about 8 days and 15 years apart ?

Wish we had digital cameras and the Internet back then so we could compare the levels of destruction.

That makes a total of three tornados I've survived now.

I was just old enough to remember it! I lived on Cunningham Street in Faith Village and was home at the time. I'll never forget being out front with my Dad, Brother and our neighbor Jack Scott watching it barrel towards us. Dad thought it was just a huge wall cloud till he saw debris flying. We took shelter in the interior hallway of the house, the house was pretty much destroyed but we were all ok. I live in Alaska, but even now if I see a real dark cloud I think of that tornado.
