The priorities in this country are really screwed up. this person is oblivious to the kids and it kind of sounds like u are an idiot yourself. GET A LIFE and quit tryin to keep us from getting a skatepark because it is already getting started. so shove that up your ass and enjoy it. skate for life peace and p.s. why do u care u live in irving???

i am all for the building and supporting of a Skate Park!! I believe it is an absolute essential project for the city. Skateboarding is a sport that takes a lot of skill and those who do it have a passion like no others. Our skateboarders DO need a legal place for them to skate with a skate shop and concession stand as well as stands and bleachers for competitions to be held there. It would solve a lot for so many people. Those who like skateboarding and those who don't. It would also bring money into the city because people will come from miles away to use the facility and spend their money in Wichita. I have faith that we will have a skate park very soon.

Why is it that the majority of "people" who rally for something like this show themselves to be complete illiterates? LOL To the illiterates: Throw away the skateboards and spend some time hitting the books to improve your obviously limited education, and then maybe you can think about some (productive) recreational time.

And FYI:
The location under usernames (has to do with ISP routing) and does not necessarily indicate place of residence, although it might.

For you anti-skaters- it's a done deal. The skatepark is almost done. It's a $500,000 dollar state-of-the-art park. I was in approval for it with my tax dollars, as was most of the tax-payers in this town. We love our kids. The skaters deserve a place to skate just as much as bowlers, baseball players, football players, tennis players, soccer players, etc. It's a demanding skillful art to skate well. tena, and others who are putting down our kids, lay off, we do what we want in Wichita Falls.

The progress on the skate park looks great. I can't wait to see it finished. I am looking forward to seeing all of the skaters including 2 of my own out there tearing up the ramps.
As a kid growing up in a non-skater friendly community my friends and I we're forced to beg, barrow and steal what we could to make are own ramps and places to skate. I am glad to be a part of a community that is willing to support our youth and skating.
Additionaly to address the fact that these kids need to spend more time being educated. That is the parents responsibility to ensure that their children are spending the time that they need in the books, but they also need a place where they can go to vent their frustrations, burn off some energy, and show their creativity. Skateboarding can do all of the above.
I applaud all the kids who have voiced thier opinions on here, although some could have used a bit more tact. Be proud of who you are and never be afraid to speak your minds. Every voice makes a difference.
