Here we go with 4 more years of the port-rail pipe dream, more money wasted with no action because Susan ran, splitting the vote.

Wilson supporters missed the boat on the importance of not electing Marks, even though the other candidates were not optimum.

Hauser, like LOL

Isn't it obvious we should continue to pay two (2) Harbor Pilots more that $150000 each just in case the pulp mill opens again? Your Marina dollars at work!!!

Everybody seems to be overstating the importance of the little Harbor Commission.

Get real. Only a little over 2,000 people even voted, they only have 5 employees & a tiny little budget.

How does an out of work pulp-mill guy afford a party at Avalon? Can anyone smell an Arkley Drone in the 4th Division spot?

Did you maybe have a thought that The Avalon was a contributor or maybe this event was donated as a tax write off?

To be honest as an observer who works overseas in many countries, both developed and 3rd world. There is some potential to this harbor, some I say.
I’ve only been here for a short time, and had a chance to look briefly at the candidates’ mission statement, vision, ideas and goals for the harbor. I also looked briefly at their past accomplishments, which amounts to really nothing.
Why? Simply, they lack vision and goals for long term development. They are tied to into what Arcata, Eureka, and some of the surrounding communities “feel” should do.
• Fact: Railroad = Dead.
• Fact: Fishing = Dead.
• Fact: Shipping container offloading and on loading = Dead.
• Fact: Industry = Dead.(Pulp mill),
• Fact: LPG (Low pressure gas terminal) was proposed to be built here, with shipments to be offloaded and piped to the central valley region. Fear was brought up by a group lead by Eureka City council member Larry Glass and people said no. It’s a big industry in Asia and safe.
• Fact: People are afraid of any new development; they will elect those who will keep it that way.
They need to forget their wet dream fantasies about what they can do, and bring in people who can apply real solutions to this place. One solution is to let big business decide and work on development, one individual who seems to be working on progress is Arkley and his group of investors.

I was working the polls yesterday and we had a little over 94 people show up for our precinct in Eureka. This is 94 people out of hundreds. You want to b*&*h about the Harbor Commission wasting money, the whole voting populace wastes money AND doesn't get represented when turnout is this small. This is your money and your lives people, get involved. Your apathy isn't more justified because you think 'there's no point'. That kind of attitude makes that statement true,so keep on just talking, and that's all you'll have.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Virgo

Mercury is turning retrograde at just the right time, because it's telling you to consider the validity of your long-term aims and aspirations. If they stand about as much chance of seeing the light of day as you do of winning the Lottery, then you need to streamline them or even abandon them and start again. So think about what you want from life and how you're going to get it. Children and romance may be quite erratic during this phase.
