I think the sentence was way out of line. I can't believe the family would ask for the maximum sentence. If a child comes sliding out into the road, no one is expecting it, and even a stone sober person would have a hard time missing the child. I don't think you can really blame the driver. Where were the parents? Why was the boy sliding into the road? In this case, while the family is pointing their finger at the driver, their are 4 fingers pointing back at them.

The man has been a drunk for years. He knew he hit the child and didn't even stop to help all he did was run and hide the car and then try to deny he was involved. He lied to the police showed not remorse for what he did I think the sentence was just fine.
If this would have happened to a sober driver and the driver stopped and tryed to help and was there to help the whole thing would have been called a accident but when you leave the accident, hide the car, lie about even being on the road, and try to blame someone else that changes from a accident to a down right crime just as they prosicuted it. He got what he deserved.

I agree he got what he had coming to him. Terri if that would have been your child I think you would have different thought's on this issue. Being the judge only gave him 15 years in prison instead of the whole 25 I think he realized a certain amount of this incident was a accident.
