Who cares who you are endorsing. You are just a newspaper. You are not a Duarte resident. I was born in Monrovia, CA. so was my Dad. My Mother was born in Duarte (Rocktown) 89 years ago. I have lived here my whole life. I do not endorse Finlay because i had a taste of her when our daughters were graduating from 6th grade. I volunteered to help with the graduating class activities. I was assigned to help gather a gift package for each student. Since I had never done this before I called and asked the committee how to go about doing this. I was supposed to go to businesses and ask them to donate a product for each graduating student. For instance, McDonalds, they donated a free Ice cream cone, the florists donated a free rose and so on. They told me to call Finlay because she had done this before. When I called Finlay she rudely said, I have no idea, I have never done this before. Whether she had or not, she was very rude.... I have never forgot that..................... Anyway, i don't know who I am voting for but you can bet it is not Finlay...

I am very concerned over comments made by Mr. Reyes at last week's council meeting. He remarked that Business Woman Lisa Magno was criticizing him because she was afraid that he would vote against her development plan on Huntington Drive. The truth of the matter is that Mr. Reyes, himself, had approached Ms. Magno - owner of Joe's Place and Roasty Toasty - and asked her to consider the project and actively pursued her proposal himself. As he is facing a tough reelection bid, I am appalled at his behavior. This additional insult will cost the City of Duarte in more lost business opportunities and will cause new business owners to look for investment opportunities in more business friendly cities. What a shame.

We are voting for Tzeitel Paras-Caracci and lots of seniors and Duarte High alumni and their parents are voting for her too.

Tzeitel is a natural good person who knows how to respect residents on both sides of the issue but stick to her guns of what she thinks as a public servant is best for Duarte as a whole after she has done her homework.. She is not a flipflopper nor a political whores like Reyes and Finlay. We like Sanchez and Brooks-Washington too.

If you think Tony Sanchez has any future in politics then you're either very politically illiterate or just a lacky.

Go watch the tapes people. He would have been better off not coming and preserving whatever image you dandy folks have of him.

At least be informed in your decision. So many Americans waste their votes away..so sad.

I am late on your positions. Vulcan.. you say is a done deal as grandfathered in because of the previous approval in the 1950's. Well then call Azusa to stop cutting down trees for the paper EIR study.

The mining expansion could still be stopped. It's just going to take someone on the State or Federal level to do it. An endangered species is surely up there, or I'm sure there is an environmental issue. It is amazing to me that we allow the strip mining of our mountains right above two cities, as if we still lived in the old west. There is no shortage of gravel.

I realize that Tony Sanchez is new to politics, and I find that refreshing. Some of our current city council members have grown roots there and they have become true politicians, in it for the wrong reasons, not because they are concerned with the community's needs. From what I've learned about Tony, he is a concerned citizen, a concerned father who is looking out for the city his family lives in. He may lack political savy but he's got a good heart. It seems that the candidates are divided in two groups, but that does not mean that you have to vote for a "group", you vote for individual candidates.

my question is why are there so many damn signs in public areas. there are 82 on Huntington. 415 around the whole city. Most of them are for the same person a foot away. Makes the city look like crap.

Also Phil Reyes was taking money from the city about 8 years ago. Anyone remeber that? Look it up on the LA Times or Pasadena Star News.

Phil has never stolen money from the city.... that was all lies and accusations...those of u who say that finlay is not a flip-flopper i suggest u look at the city council meetings on how she flip-flop he decision on the MTA maintenance yard.. then u will get your answer... and tina for your information Phil is a "big" supporter of small businesses... if u look at the city council tape on october 12th 2009 u will see how kirchner and lisa attacked him... he has done nothing wrong to them.... i have a feeling finlay underminded her
