Please give this family, and this man, your compassion.

He was suffering, and now the ones who love him are suffering too.

Please, no unkind words.

Sorry to hear about this story.

He was not kidnapped or did he run into foul play. It was just an accident it seems, but it's a very sad story just the same.

When one has Depression...it doesn't matter if they own a mansion on a hill w/everything to go w/it all the money in the bank...It will not cure the depression...medicine doesn't work for all of those who suffer from this illness...
If you haven't had it you can't understand the feeling and if you haven't had it count your self very LUCKY...

And finding the right medicine for each person isn't always easy...and it can take a long while to get someone the right help...
One pill doesn't cure all...People w/depression feel hopeless and helpless...
God bless his family...

if he'd been "poor" he'd still be alive, in an institution. Who let him out running around anyway. Sad story, perhaps. But where were the responsible "non-mentally ill" people in his life that weren't looking out for, and over, him. If one cares about someone with a mental illness [regardless of how rich and seemingly smart they are] you don't send them out in to the woods alone. You wouldn't do it with a 12 year old. And you wouldn't do it with someone this impaired.

When I called Crimestoppers to report seeing him last week they first had an answering machine...then when I called back I got 'yeah, uh hum, ok' as answers. Not once was I asked the address of the place I saw him.

It is sad...there but for the grace of God go any of us.

So very sorry to hear about the loss of Steven Thomas and condolences to the family. This is a tragedy for all involved. Bipolar disorder can be so unpredictable without consistent treatment. Hopefully, the loss of this brilliant mind and wonderful young man will help remind us of the need to be involved in the welfare of our loved ones. Help a friend get help, or get help yourself. As there is no shame in having cancer or diabetes, there should be no shame in having - and treating - a brain disorder. One life lost is one too many. - Cherie HUGS-OC

I'm kind of surprised that his doctors and family/spouse (with unlimited resources) allowed it to progress so far. Especially since he already refused voluntary medication. His doctors better hope suicidal tendencies were not in his assessments.

Gosh, khi, they let *you* out on your own, didn't they? People who suffer this way are not prisoners. They're sick people. Ill. No criminals.

I was a good freind of Steve's since college and I don't think he killed himself, especially from a swandive. Steve was full hope and zeal for life first of all and secondly he didn't like pain. If he did want to end things, he was smart enough to come up with other ways. None of this makes sense to me...
