No to Cherokee ridge

#1 Apr 1, 2012
Now that beam lost the election, I see where he is no longer pushing the annexation of Cherokee ridge. Guess the big money political supporters are now in JOHNNY HARTS pocket. I will say this again, do they have the best for Arab or what will get them (hart) further in politics. I did not vote for beam and it is looking like I will not vote for hart either. City before self.

Didn't Jonney spend some of Arab money in Mississippi the last time he was mayor.

What is Mr. hart running for? I was under the impression he was over the 911 system for Marshall county, which is not an elected seat. Are you saying Mr. Hart is running for some office in Arab?

I dont see how Mr. beam losing the race for probate judge has anything to do with Cherokee Ridge. Gary had already said he wouldnt run for Mayor again when he announced he was running for probate judge.

Hart is on the city council. Yes but Gary had big time supports who was supporting him for probate judge WHO ALSO had an interest in CR

Fred where do you live, because if you lived in Marshall county you would know this. Also the big supporters went to Marshall County Commissioners to get it past. Beam is on his way out. He can not help them. Johnny is running again for council.

I did not vote for beam for pj. What has beam done for the city. Brought a piece of property that has not sold. Streets are in bad shape. No new business in the city. Laid off city employees just so we could have Christmas lights in the park. If he can't run the city why would I want him running the county as pj.
I would hate to think what he or his supporters would have done to the county.

I hate to tell all fo you this but if the people that live in Cherokee Ridge want to be annexed this is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING you can do about it. If I have a piece of property that I want annexed and the city is willing to have that property in the city limits there is nothing that can be done. Its really a win/win for Arab. The city will get more in taxes and the PJ will not be extended. Of course the county will lose out on some property taxes but eventually (in 50 years or so) most of the county will either be in the city limits or the PJ of one town or another, thats just simple economics.

Why do so many people object to Cherokee Ridge being in the city limits? They want better police and fire protection and are willing to be annexed into the city. This will mean more money for the city through building permits, property taxes and sales tax collected on the houses sold in CR.

Don't think so Fred. The police and fire will need more people to cover the area but the city has no money to hire them. So the people in the city will have less coverage just so cr can be covered, plus look at how long it will take to answer the calls all cr wants is the city to pave there roads and replace the sewer sure they say no right now but wait a few years them you will here we pay taxes so our roads need to be fixed. Plus there is over 5 miles between the city limits and where cr is located so why do they get in but the rest have to have property next to the city limits.

You are misguided. First it will require no extra police or fire to "patrol" CR. What makes you think that by adding CR their will need to be extra police and fire department personnal hired? I didnt realize the folks at CR were such hel raisers and arsonists. LOL. CR just paved all their road about a year ago I do believe and they paid for that themselves so the roads should be in good shape for about 10 years. As far as sewer goes I dont believe sewer is ran out to CR is it? You might want to check before you go yelping about that. Even if they have sewer wouldnt it be Arab city seer already? I dont think Morgan city has a sewer treatment plant. So if there is sewer at CR its either privately owned or Arab city already. The city would not be under any obligation to take on the sewer if it is a private owned sewer system, just like Gunters Landing joined the city of Guntersville but the still have their own private sewer system. So again another Fred wannabe and hater trying to muddle the facts with half-truths and innuendo. Keep trying kiddo.

There are ALOT of misconception floating around over CR annex. Current citzens and future CR residence would ultimately lose mega bucks. Most of all it would cause more suffering for us working class citizens, not the millionaires of CR.
As far as the politics. This ordeal is 100% political. Once again the all mighty dollar strikes. Yes....johnny hart is all up in this. Billy strickland is hand in hand with them. Like someone said, doesnt matter to gary beam any longer cause he is out. Ronnie shumate is crownies with hart and strickland so there you have it. Good ol'boy politics and whats in it for me.
Arab summed it up well. We, the real citizens of Arab have many more serious concerns than catering to the rich at the cost of the poor, hard working tax payers.
Why don't cherokee ridge just annex into Huntsville, they would certainly fit in better.

Fred once again YOU ARE WRONG CR HAS THERE OWN SEWER. Yes it will have to be maintained. Roads have not been paved and are getting old.
And just who do you think will have to answer the police calls fire and medical calls. There are only three police on a shift so one would have to leave Arab and go there. You would hAve two have two medical person ell which would be one crew.

Can you explain your gibberish please? What does johnny hart and billy strickland have to do with this? If the residents of CR want to be annexed so that they have city police and fire protection whats wrong with that? The city will get more tax money! Geez you people like to post how Arab needs money and when an opportunit comes by like this you say the "rich" people of CR are shafting everyone else. I would like to know how the "rich" of CR are shafting anyone by being annexed. Seriously tell me how this is a bad ide for the city of Arab. They wont have to hire any new police or fire personnal. They wont be running sewer to CR. So how is this a bad thing? LOL Man some people wouldnt know a good thing if it bit them in the butt.

If you knew how to read or how to comprehend the written word you woudl see that I said that in Guntersville when the Gunters Landing development was annexed the sewer that was already in place at Gunters Landing remained the property of the previous owner and the city of Guntersville did NOT run their sewer to Gunters Landing nor has the existing sewer been tied onto the cities system.

Now does anyone know if CR has sewer or if they are all on septic tanks. I do believe they are all on septic tanks so there you go Little Fred.

As far as shutting up goes, you need to learn some respect boy, if you think you can shut me up then by all means do so. Otherwise you need to shut up pin head.

It doesnt matter what you people say on here, it wont matter what you say at the city council meeting. The facts are that if the majority of residents want to be anexed and the city wants to annex them in they can do it. You crack/meth head conspiracy theory nut jobs that think every thing is some kind of scheme to advance the "rich" or "good ole boys" need a life. Its obvious you have never had ANY type of business dealings (other than trading stolen items or what little cash you morons do have for meth or marijuana).

You poor little whiners think all this is soooo unfair, how many of you live in the city limits?

Again all you little crybabies like to spout your crap and run your mouths but you never do answer any question I ask you. You can only come up with such witty quips like " Fred how many times have you been told to shut up?" WOW thats doozy for you isnt it? LOL You idiots dont have a clue, thats why you are losers and will never make it beyond McDonalds, Wal-Mart, or whatever dead end job your sorry butt might have.

Having a discussion with most of you on here is like trying to teach French to a dang Mexican. You just dont have the brain capacity to get it.

I believe he used Arab money because that was the only credit card he had with him and repaid all of back to the city. Not great, but at least not theft.

If Arab wanted CR on a sewer, government money is available for outfall and pressure lines back to the nearest tie in plus lift stations along the way just as Guntersville "found" the funding to extend the Conners Island Industrial Park line all the way through Claysville ,past the "Y" and all the way to the State Highway Department location. The residents in CR would be assessed the front footage of their lots and tie in fees. Guntersvile has not accepted Gunters Landing because of all the problems with the documented contamination releases into the river are settled with the EPA and the fines are paid. To do otherwise would make Guntersville responsible.

No we are the smart one that know what will happen if cr isinglass the city. If they want in the city them move.
You will mother enough tax money off of the houses to cover the expense. Sewer and EPA are different than the roads. But Fred since you believe everything Johnny, Billy and Sid say it looks like you are up there buts Evan clay is not for it now. Only person for it is Johnny all the rest say they don't have enough info but Johnny says he has all the info he needs meaning some favorers are coming his way and not to the city

Sounds like a major ethics violation to me. If it had been any other city employee they would have been fired.
Didn't they fire Garry Humpheries for using rescue money even though he paid it back.

Fred if it is such a big win for everybody why dont you annex them in to blountsville.

As far as cost and city services like fire and police, you have no clue what your talking about. CR is too far away from the city and there is no way current fire and police can handle calls from 10 miles away.
