You also forgot to mention all the loopholes that allow the wealthy like Romney to actually pay LESS than 15%. A $77,000 tax credit for a horse versus the credit you or I get for a child.

Base rates may look fair, but you need to take a look at actual percentages paid after all the exemptions and loopholes.

77,000 on earningsf 50 million or more is lik you losing a penny! But you have ALWAYS been hung up on taxes for some reason! How much did you earn and pay in last year? Or did you get a refund?

OK, Gov.Bentley says if it doesn't pass there will be a 12% cut in state services across the board including state funded medical care, road and bridge repair and all the basics. For those of us that don't like the idea of robbing the piggy bank, what quick way of revenue generation will keep the basics going so there will be no elimination of services? I know people won't like getting the call to come get grandma, the nursing home is closing and she will be in the driveway waiting on you or "sorry, this clinic is closing but there is one about seventy five miles from here".Someone needs to come up with a plan.....quickly!

Thomas first of all where in the state is there only one clinic every seventy miles? Much less one funded by the state? If you are speaking of the Health Department they wont close, as they cant they are mandated by law! Just like the state HAS to FUND MEDICAID as that is mandated by law! The Governor and all the lazy legislators in Montgomery need to come up with a way to cut the fat! I am voting NO as they have NO PLAN in place to repay the "borrowed" money. Nixon took money from Social Security with a promise to repay it and what a shock it never got repayed! How in the world does Montgomery think they can repay 500 million if they cant even balance the current budget? Are they planning on waiting until the economy is roaring again and put any "surplus" we might have then back into it? We all KNOW they wont, just look back when the economy was doing really well, they didnt put any in savings, all they did was find more things to spend the "extra" on! Wake up! Dont believe the fear mongers!

I must say the state of ALABAMA and the politicians that run it inept. How can they let the bidget get where it is at? Instead of raiding the trust fund why not sell some of the 41 television stations the state owns? Oh wait most of you didnt know the state owns 41 televison stations did you in 36 different markets? Funny how things like that dont get spoken about. RAYCOM Media (which is owned by the state and is udes to fund the retirement of state employees). They have television stations in Hawaii, Arizona, Texas,Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Arkansas, Tennessee, Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Illinois, Kentucky and Ohio.

How about the hotels the state owns? Ask any teacher they can tell you about the WONDERFUL hotels at Orange Beach and how ALL TEACHERS can stay in the hotel for $75 when rooms usually go for $150! I can not remember the name of the hotel but I know the state owns it. Funny how a state thats so broke we have to raid our trust fund to meet the budget has money to buy television stations and hotels! But you wont find a state employee that will vote against this bill! We had our own legislators saying that this bill is irresponsible and we should vote against it.

I only hope we can vote some of the dead beats out of Montgomery, starting with the Governor!

I made a mistake, after some research RAYCOM owns 46 television stations total, I guess the map on their website isnt up to date! I can also mention Raycom sports if you like.

This if from raycom sports website:

Raycom Sports has owned the television rights to Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Basketball since 1981 and ACC Football since 1984. Raycom, in 2011 enters into a sublicense arrangement with ESPN where Raycom continues through 2023 to be the national syndicator of ACC football and basketball, holder of regional cable rights, administration of ACC Properties and management of all ACC digital platforms including operation of theacc.com , the official conference web site.

You know if I went to bankruptcy court and the judge found out I had the equivalent amount of property he would force me to liquidate some of the property so that I could pay my debts....why should the state be held to a lower standard than us?

Oh wait I just found this too from the Raycom sports website:
Raycom Sportsí parent company, Raycom Media, is located in Montgomery AL. Raycom Media has established itself as one of the nationís largest broadcasters and currently owns and/or operates 48 television stations in 36 markets and 18 states that cover over 12.6 percent of the United States
