Maybe their gleaming white temple could be converted into a gleaming white prison for the child molesters/abusers.

What a disgusting group of people. Thank God those kids were removed. Hopefully their horrible memories will be too.

Throw all the adults in prison, after a fair trial, course, and throw away the key!
What about the boys? These people abuse them, too. I hope that gets investigated for this group has cast out young men in order to diminish their numbers so these old perverts get to marry the 16 year old girls.

Excellent idea. |
It takes a village to rape and brainwash a child. FLDS is a sick cult. |
Clarification: The LDS church, whose "gleaming white temple" you mention is not affliated with this offshoot branch/cult. |
this is just another example of SICK DISGUSTING people hiding behind a religion and using the name of god and jesus to get away with the most horrible acts!
i hope the place gets cleaned out and all the perverts locked up! lets hope these abused women and children get the help they need!!! |

1 These "religions" get all kinds of breaks and their own sets of separate rules from the government including allowing the men to have as many wives as they want. Many of these creeps "marry" girls 35 years younger than they are. Anyone living outside these "religious" prisons and has 2 wives is usually in big trouble, right? Why does the U.S. government allow these "religions" to practice everything that is illegal and immoral and call itself a "religion"? Anyone living outside these "religions" and has sex with a 12 year old and gets her pregnant, in cities and states outside these "religions" you are labeled a registered sex offender and you go to a federal prison while these guys, a lot of them old men, are having sex and children with little girls. And here comes our Government who set up this mess, here they come to rescue the 16 year old who "complained." Gee, it makes her sound like a real pain in the a- s-s- because she "complained." Nobody likes a "complainer." Complained? Over the years women have escaped from the confines of those prisons and have been interviewed on tv and have written books. But the government never set foot in those places to investigate. Why now? After all these years of our government allowing these "religons" to set up shop, have as many wives as they want, have sex with children in heavily-armed compounds/jails, why go in there now? |

Correction: The FLDS Temple that was raided HAS a "gleaming white temple" according to this article. |
Cut some slack to these people. You didn't drag out those filthy Jesuits recycled through the Vatican. They are not violent people. And everybody gets married.
There is a gleaming white temple that has been built on the compound. |

1 In fact, current Latter-Day Saint men can still be "spiritually" married to more than one woman. If they legally divorce a wife, or if she passes away, the LDS church allows them to keep their wife (as far as church records are concerned) and marry another (sealing her to him for eternity, thus taking on another wife that will be his in the next life in addition to the one(s) he has already been married to). For the LDS church to say it has nothing to do with the FLDS beliefs is a lie. And, in addition to this, Utah still refuses to change its marriage laws, which allow men to marry girls at 16 years of age with their parents consent. This was enacted as a polygamy law that they have not changed. |

What if the 16-year-old girl is really a hoax just to liberate the residents of the compound. In any case, it is about time this time of crap ended in the United States. Bush wants to talk about creating freedom in Iraq. What about these residents who cannot watch TV, listen to radio or read newspapers and are kept from school to keep them uneducated.

GOOD! Then the rest of them are out of danger! PS, some of them can watch filtered tv. |

I love when people get into religious arguments on the internet! Ultimately, the guy who did this is jailed and these kids and women are going through a lot as a result of their religious misguidance. There shouldn't be an argument as to which is better, who's right and who's wrong, who has shortcomings and God always provokes strong emotions. To the extent of the law, the authorities need to find the kid who made the claims in order to have a stronger case. Perhaps she chickened out when she realized she would have to testify?

1 I've searched every State Registry in and around Texas and have come up with nothing. "Barlow pleaded no contest last year to conspiracy to commit sexual conduct with a minor, The Associated Press reported. ***He was ordered to register as a sex offender for three years***, according to the AP. His lawyer in that case told the AP he had not spoken to Barlow in a year." http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/04/05/texas.ran... This dude is a poster child for pedophiles! |

We simply cannot afford religion at this point in civilization. Subscribing to irrational, fantasmagoric ravings from misfit hustlers like Joseph Smith and irrational rantings of Islamist radicals and Christian rapturists who believe they alone are chosen by their created gods, and who subscribe to and defend tales and fables from dark ages where suspicions ruled a menacing earth with uncharted, unkown, mystical - many of which have subsequently been scientifically demystified and quantified and comprehended is simply dangerous folly - like letting children play with guns. lInterpreting ravings of alleged holy men - sand strewn primitives to whom the wheel was a marvel - who created and devised gods and, demons to explain the unknowables will be the unraveling of society. We simply cannot afford the disruption and destruction inherent in belief systems that rely on unproven, unprovable tenets that zealots are willing to become martyrs and kill for - that pit one sect against another in a futile inane fight in the name of religion, in the name, ironically, of an all-loving, merciful god - on a planet with frighteningly real problems and disastrously depleting resources.
