Just in case anyone else is wondering... This is NOT the same company that it used to be. I wondered what the hell was going on some time back when I didn't see the same ladies working there. Those nice ladies "Pat and Betty" that run that place moved. I realized recently that Pat is running the "REAL" Alter Ego up in Madison Heights. I believe it's more part time now. The other lady moved away.

That place at 7708 Timberlake Rd is no longer the "real" Alter Ego. I heard that the man who owned the building was quick to grab that business name and reopened as the same place! Seems quite unethical to me... That woman running it now, isn't that good I think what po'd me the worse about her is that SHE LIED.. When I went in and asked "what happened to Pat?" she lied and said Pat got old, and retired and was just sitting at home nowdays!" I knew that just didn't sound right... How Very deceptive.. Seems like they could at least come up with their own name and not "steal" hers. I would not recommend this place to anyone!

then you choose to deal with liars, they really screwed up my things, and lied about who was doing the work

As good as Pat was, let's face it, some days she was quite harsh and snappy. I like the professional attitutude of the current staff and the reasonable prices. Everything I have sent in was done well and on time. When I asked what had happened, I was told there was a new owner and that the ladies that worked there were his employees, not the owners. I also noticed how much cleaner, organized and decluttered the place was. I kiked Pat but like the new set up even more.

Well change of folks doing work must be explaination! My friend had only ever used them for years, thought of them as the best around, BUT, then they jacked up a prom dress and even left a large pin in it...she paid 75 bucks then took it to a nice tailor in the Galleria downtown (he found pin). She was so appalled at this and the danger it posed to her daughter she stopped payment on chk, called them and told them so and why... Lady said "I'm sorry, it happens". Next thing he has her served a warrant for cost of returned check... In court lady lied and testified she never said that AND skirted the truth (under oath in a court of law mind you) on entire thing from start to finish! Heard the owner was pompas ass! Sure if she had known it was under "new management" she maybe could have saved a lot of trouble and gone elsewhere...anyway statement from tailor that fixed dress and made it right was not admissable and turns out owner of AlterEgo & mediator were real chummy, judge hardly glanced at photos of pin in dress or photos of what they did to it to mess it up. So she got short end of deal all around...jacked up dress and lost in court!

hey,

thank you for the transparency for this company and the information provided. I'll be going somewhere else - sounds like a scumbag company.

I have an event business and specialize in weddings. A bride recently took a gown to them to be altered. They completely ruined her dress, kept putting her off and a week before the wedding she had to go buy another dress off the rack - not what she wanted but it fit her and it was a beautiful dress. Meantime they keep her dress which they say can't be fixed, but she doesn't want to pay them for their work when the dress is ruined and doesn't fit her. They had the dress for months. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.

I haven't needed anything done for a while, but I see this place has really changed. I used to be a regular customer up until about 4 yrs or so ago, then my job had me traveling and on the road so much I wasn't able to go back. I remember the 2 ladies who worked there.... They did excellent work... If they said my things would be ready they had it ready on time. It was messy in there at times... probably because they were just over loaded with work... They must have been doing most all the work in time as I was never in there that there weren't people doing fittings ,,,or wanting something done. I don't know how 2 people were able to do so much work. You're going to have thread and stuff on the floor in a tailoring shop. I never thought of Pat as snappy... she was always nice and friendly to me... She did seem quite aloof, sort of lost? after her husband passed away so quickly. Must have been awfully hard on her. I'm glad she is still sewing, even if it is up in Madison Heights... Worth it to know it will be done right...
