I read a story in which a crazy man deliberately ran over a crowd with his car. he killed and injured dozens. No one suggested banning or regulating car? Isn't that funny?

Unfortunately, this person slipped through the cracks, it appears. I wish I could find a way that you could keep people like him from having guns.(Quote from article)

I am all for the second amendment and the NRA but if a person's mental health is in question they should have to prove they are competent to own a gun. Speight's was probably raising a red flag before the shootings.

IMO, most gun-haters are nuts.

Christopher Columbus was nuts for crossing the Atlantic. Astronauts were nuts for going to the moon. People who swim the English Channel are nuts, and people who climb mountains are the craziest. Bush was/is nuts. All red flag people.

Why the focus on gun crime ? More people die from many other causes; guns are the least causes of death.

You have a lot of things backwards. You have to prove a person to be incompetent before you take away their rights. I think you might have a big problem if you had to prove yourself competent!

I think all progressives should have to prove they are mentally competent before voting, speaking, praying, or exercising any of their civil rights.

Doesn't calling oneself "progressive" automatically disqualify them?

It should. Being progressive is a mental disease.

It is! Especially because what they are actually pushing for is quite regressive. So many people fought and died to secure our rights and the regressives have no problem taking those away and pushing for some kind of dark ages nonsense. Hell, there was even a topic here that showed the regressives think black skinned people should have less rights than others!

When is it that people are going to accept that to live in a free society you have to take the bad with the good? There are bad people doing bad things, good people doing bad things, even bad people doing good things, and good people doing good things.
Laws do not get in the way of somebody wanting to do something bad. They only keep the good people from being able to protect themselves and sometime their fellow man.

Progressivism always turns into fascism, communism, or another form of tyranny, no matter the name. My belief is that outside human life, the most important thing here on earth is human rights & freedoms. The progressives are starting to really squall, now that 50 years of their failed policies are being incrementally dismantled & discarded in this country.

Laws have never prevented anything from happening. What they do is keep honest people honest for fear of punishment; and they give us something to prosecute bad behavior for. Criminals by their very nature do not care about the law...they care about being caught.

It's not guns who kill people, it's people who kill people.

Yea. People don't need guns to kill people. But when people don't have guns they always get killed by their own govt.
