Hopewell council gets update on Beacon Theatre
The city of Hopewell is still a long way from seeing the conversion of the historic Beacon Theatre into a fully functioning performance theater, said Scott Firestine, director of the Appomattox Regional Library System, in a presentation to City Council last night.

The Beacon can live and share her wonderful history and architecture. For those who doubt the Beacon, take the time and search the architect, Fred A Bishop. I believe you will be surprised at what you will find. The Beacon is a treasure. It is time to stop slapping the Grand Lady around and do something. Hopewell has let enough of it's history end up on Ebay.

I agree with you Weefolk1, but sorry. The little mayor and doofus city council have thier dirty little hands on it again. Look at the rest of town to be able to forsee what is going to happen to the lovely Beacon. The homeless will be hanging out and the roof will be falling in(again).

I heard they are gonna put a bunch a money into it probably outa our pockets. Who they think is gonna run it and clean it up? Another dumb plan that us regular guys have to pay for. I am sick of paying all these taxes to get nothin for it. We can't even get more officers to try and keep down the crime. WhY?
