Why would you say something so callous? What hate are you talking about? His hatred for sin?

I have fond memories of Jerry Falwell, above all that he was or preceived to be, he was a husband, father, grandfather and a friend to me and countless others.

I miss him, can't wait to read the book.

Maybe it had something to do with him blaming everyone different then himself for 9-11? Just a thought.

I have to agree, good riddance. One less person spreading hate in this world is a good thing.

Jerry was a hate-filled person. He was a racist, sexist and arrogant. Heaven forbid if your thoughts were different from his...One thing that always amazed me was the level of control he had over his church and its members. Jerry was a political force to his people - as if they could not come to their own conclusion about what candidate would better serve them. I don't want to see him burn in he** though. He always came across as a one-way thinking, Bible thumping, down-home good ole boy backwoods preacher to me. No way in this world I could/would follow anyone with the likes of him. Good riddance.

Never met a more loving man, to his church, his family, his students, and friends. All this hate from people that only knew him by a 7 second byte on their television.
His legacy and impact on this nation will on through his ministry and Liberty University.

I am sure Hitler was nice to his family and friends as well. It is how he treated those different then himself that he is known for however. No difference here. To spread hate is to spread hate.

Flawed logic

Jerry never killed anyone....he lead by example.

BTW: Who did he hate?

He showed everyone the love of Jesus, even invite openly gay folks to meet at Thomas Road.

Who did he hate? Wow, hope I don't run out of space here. You know a great way to show others the love of Jesus might actually be to practive love.

On Sept. 11: pagans, abortionists, feminists, gays and lesbians - "I point the finger in their face and say 'you helped this happen."

On public education: "I hope I live to see the day when, as in the early days of our country, we won't have any public schools. The churches will have taken them over again, and Christians will be running them."

On Islam: "I think Mohammed was a terrorist. I read enough of the history of his life, written by both Muslims and non-Muslims, that he was a violent man, a man of war."

On Jews: "In my opinion, the Antichrist will be a counterfeit of the true Christ, which means that he will be male and Jewish, since Jesus was male and Jewish."

You know Hitler didn't kill millions of people with his own hands. He lead by example.
This man encouraged hate and encouraged division between different people.

Probably easier to just google that one, where to even start at what/who this person was.

Basically he was a very influential person who didn't always use that position for the good of others.

Jerry Fallwell was a hateful man. His words contributed to the deaths of countless gay and lesbian youth who either killed themselves or were attacked by religious fanatics. If there is a Hell, not doubt, Jerry is burning in it right now. I dance on, and spit on, his grave. He deserves no honor, no recognition, and no respect because of the horrible things for which he is responsible in his life. Were he alive today, I'd advocate he be brought to justice in our legal system for the deaths of countless youth.

So, in your eyes disagreement with a political movement = hate?

Standing against what the Bible condemns = hate?

Standing against abortion = hate?

Standing up to terrorist = hate?

Thank God he had the courage of his convictions to state in the public arena what he believed and taught privately.

For the most part Jerry spoke the truth in love. The problem is people don't like the truth, they want political correctness.

Did Jerry Falwell hate? Yep he hated sin, but he showed nothing but love towards sinner.
