The money does not go to the department anyway, any money that they take in goes in to the county general fund.

The head of the Rec dept. was not exactly likeable anyway. A lot of people quit participating or donating because of her mean attitude. I was not surprised to learn she had done this. Self-serving people usually feel no remorse about what they do to hurt others.

Hopefully, in the long run, the Rec dept. will recover and be under better, more friendly management. That would really help the entire community, as this is basically the only program in Oglethorpe we have for children to participate in group activites outside of school.

It was time for a change there anyways. The Rec Dep needs more land too. Or a park.. or somthing for people to do.

What a sad thing to happen. It is hard enough for recreation centers to raise money and stay afloat much less employees being stingy and greedy to take it for themselves. I hope they have to pay back every penny with interest and maybe serve a little time behind bars.

i agree about the situation at the rec dept. All of you have nailed it. hopefully he community can come together and get this dept moving in the right direction. sometimes people in higher positions and given too much authority still need others to monitor what they are doing. this is happening way too much in government offices and it is the community money and taxpayers money. Shame it is like this.
