Michael Motte. Important as a man, student and father. Tremendous man, man with great drive, intelligence and courage
The man was a favorite on the SFA football team, a favorite in school. A favorite of mine. The man overcame a career ending injury to again suit up and drive on the field. I watched him overcome the quadricep ripped from the joint, he walked, then he ran, then he walked stands then he ran stands then he ran stands with an 80 pound vest strapped on..Then he worked the weight room , he looked like a competitive bodybuilder yet full of power. Working on his Masters after graduation, now an end has come to his efforts. He will be and is missed. There are no words to describe the feelings for the NACRAT who killed him. There are hopes that the Nacogdoches District Attorney can have the greatest day in court she has ever had and bring to an end, the life of the Rat who killed Michael Motte. The cell phones are burning up on Mike. No one believes this happened, no one understands why it could happen, for a few dollars. For a momentary thrill. All the muscle and drive of the man Motte could not beat the power of the bullet sent his way by the weak , cowardly NACRAT who pulled the trigger. It took science, the science of firearms and ballistics to knock Mike down, the NACRAT coward could not meet him head on. No NACRAT could. No Houston Rat could. I do not know what to say further, I hope the D.A. is very successful. For his family, you had one special man in Mike. |

A roll of the dice as to whether it will be you next time, you just never know. Michael Mott, a friend of mine and played ball with my son. One hell of a man. He just graduated from SFA and was working on his masters. He was a hugely muscled man from the greatest work ethic I think i have seen. Mike came back from adversity, a powerhouse running back for SFA, he totally ripped his quadricep from the joint, he worked, he worked hard on the very serious injury, most of the time this would be a death knell to a running back. But not Mike. I watched him work after the tendon reattached, walking, then walking the stands, running the stands, then running the stands with 80 pound weighted vests. Work in the weight room, looked like a black Schwarzenegger. Very intelligent and driven. Even after the serious injury the Green Bay Packers wanted him for his power and work ethic, his Mom was so proud, saw her at most ballgames. Wonderful lady and I know where Mike got some of his social skills. President of his fraternity and class. Popular, smiling, intelligence what else could he have? Then the rats came out at night. Mike had a few dollars at a BBQ stand, not much, Mike came from a bad side of Houston I understand. Wonderful parents , bad part of town. A few dollars...the Nac Rat wanted them, killed him and took his few dollars. So many things are wondered about with things like this. The cell phones are buzzing about Mike, disbelief rampant, nahhhhh, nuh uh!! they all say..Why? Did they catch em? You are shi--ing me? get back! get outta here!! Man I don't believe it! What is it about that old saying I heard, "only the good die young"? What words can be used to express the necessary outrage about this? What can be done to stop, to end the Nac Rats of the world? Is my son or daughter next? Ahhhhh, ban all the guns some say...Lol.....ahh whatever. Bet this Nac Rat would not tell the feds he had one. Good bye Mike, you were special, you were unique, you will be missed. That is not enough said but I don't know what else to say Mike! Edit/Delete Message |

Affidavit: Carey told acquaintances he robbed and shot Motte
Listen to this article or download audio file.Click-2-Listen By MICHELE MARCOTTE The Daily Sentinel Monday, June 29, 2009 Nickevette Ronshondo Carey, the 20-year-old man charged with capital murder in connection with the weekend death of Michael Motte, made references to robbing the former SFA football player prior to fatally shooting him early Saturday, police documents reveal. According to an arrest affidavit, Carey and four people he was with at Harlon's Barbecue noticed Motte with a large sum of money, and after making a reference to robbing him, Carey left the business ahead of his four companions, who left shortly thereafter. RELATED: Affidavit: Carey told acquaintances he robbed and shot Motte Read the arrest affidavit Motte remembered as a caring, loving guy The four companions told police as they were standing outside the restaurant when they heard gunshots and fled the scene. They soon received a call from Carey requesting them to pick him up at the corner of Powers Street and Old Tyler Road, according to the affidavit. The affidavit states that when they arrived at the intersection, Carey entered their blue Dodge Durango with a handgun in one hand and a sum of money in the other. The occupants told police that when he entered the car, Carey stated that he had robbed and shot Motte. Motte, who was found by police lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds at 1:46 a.m., died shortly after he arrived at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital, according to initial reports. The affidavit states that dispatchers were notified of a blue Dodge Durango fleeing the scene of the shooting. Police located the vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop, but the driver did not immediately stop. The affidavit says that near intersection of Old Tyler Road and CR 804, a black male exited the vehicle with an object in his hand. The remaining four occupants were detained and questioned by police. Carey, a 2007 graduate of Nacogdoches High School, was located several hours later in Shelby County and arraigned that afternoon in Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Lee Ann Goerner's court. No bond was set. Prior to the shooting, Carey had been staying with his mother at her home on First Street. "He's never here," his mother said from the steps of her front door, when asked if he lived with her permanently. She did not wish to comment further, but did describe the news of hearing her son shot another man as "shocking." Nickevette Carey Arrest Affidavit http://www.dailysentinel.com/news/content/new... |

I hope Mike's family see these posts and then knows how many others do care and hurt, many think daily about this needless killing and the Wingo sons cannot believe it at all. Playing with Mike, seeing the heart of a warrior, a Spartan, a Gladiator.
Mike was the hardest worker in the weight room at SFA, maybe the strongest. Bigger than his stated 220 pounds, more like 245-250, there is no way that mass could stay at 220 pounds. We hope the NAcRat becomes a weight of nothing but the weight of his decomposed flesh and bones, we hope the executioner makes an error and the ending of this NACRAT takes longer than it should and the entire time the event takes, he has Mike's face in his mind. Nothing can amend this happening, nothing, our law is ill equipped to amend. It can only mete certain justice. A sickening thing this is. |

Motte remembered as a caring, loving guy
Listen to this article or download audio file.Click-2-Listen By MICHELE MARCOTTE The Daily Sentinel Monday, June 29, 2009 Friends, coaches and fellow classmates at SFA remember Michael Motte as "a positive role model" and "overall good guy." Motte, 24, was shot and killed early Saturday as he left Harlon's Barbecue. Nickevett Rhonshondo Carey, 20, of Nacogdoches has been charged with his murder. RELATED: Affidavit: Carey told acquaintances he robbed and shot Motte Read the arrest affidavit Motte remembered as a caring, loving guy "He was a very involved young man," Beverly Farmer said of Motte. As the director of the SFA Student Activities Association, Farmer interacted with Motte through Panhellenic meetings and various other activities in which he participated with his fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha. "He was a very nice guy and well liked throughout the university," she said. Motte, president of the fraternity, was no stranger to community service. He involved himself and his fraternity brothers in numerous local projects with the Boys & Girls Club and Head Start. He also helped organize a special pep rally for students gearing up for the TAKS test at Thomas J. Rusk Elementary last February. "Mike was just so caring," said Terence King, one of his line brothers (a fraternity brother who pledged into the fraternity at the same time as Motte). "He always thought about others. He was always willing to help out anybody and was always willing to give. That's just the type of person he was." Maurice Johnson, another of his line brothers, echoed those sentiments, adding that Motte's loving personality helped him learn how to vocalize his own love of friends. "If you were having a bad day, that was only until you ran into Mike," said another of his line brothers, Jeremy Johnson. In addition to his work in the community, Motte played for the SFA football team from 2003 until 2007. SFA head coach J.C. Harper, who was a defensive coordinator when Motte played for the team, described him as "a team leader." "He had a big influence on the players of our football team," Harper said. "They looked up to him very much, and respected him and leaned on him quite a bit." Motte was a starting fullback and was named twice to the All-Southland Conference team. Even in high school, Motte juggled academics, community projects and football, according to his former coach Todd Schonhar, who now coaches at SFA. "He had a very high GPA. He was a quality young man and a team leader both on the field and off," Schonhar said. "He was great kid." Motte attended North Shore Senior High in Galena Park, a suburb of Houston. Mike Santiago, a former SFA head coach, echoed the sentiments of the other coaches, adding that, "he was a good guy, he got his degree and had everything in front of him." A group called In Loving Memory of Michael Motte has been created for friends and classmates to share memories of their late friend on the social networking Web site Facebook. To access the group, visit www.facebook.com and browse student groups. Nickevette Carey Arrest Affidavit |

HOUSTON (KTRK)-- A well-known and well-liked college student from Houston was shot and killed this past weekend. Now the family of Michael Motte is remembering a man they say was a great son and a great father, too. The victim graduated from North Shore High School in 2003 and recently attended college at Stephen F. Austin. The murder not only affected the community but his family as well. "I just can't believe it. I just go through my times when I cry then I think about all the good things that he's done," said mother Vanessa Adams. Just days after their son Michael was shot and killed outside a Nacogdoches restaurant, Vanessa and James Adams can't help but think of all that was lost. Story continues below Advertisement "I personally can only hope to be a fourth of the man my son had become," said James. Michael Motte was not just a loving son, the eldest of four kids and father of two kids of his own, he was on a path to a great future. Motte was a star athlete from a young age and he was known as much for his talents on the field as well as his classroom academics. In college, he aspired to be a pro football player, who as of just two weeks ago, had promised to come back to Houston to teach local kids. "He was coming back to pay back to the community that was a part of his life. What a loss," said former high school teacher Linda Sherrard. Motte was gunned down early Saturday morning as he left a Nacogdoches BBQ restaurant. His mother drove from Houston to see her son, but it was too late. "Because so many people were coming in, I was like, I just want to see my child and I still have yet to see my son," said mother Vanessa Adams. Motte was also part of the prestigious fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha. On Facebook, his brothers have established a special memorial for him. In the meantime, the man accused of killing Motte, Nickevett Carey, remains behind bars. Motte's family says they forgive him. "I forgive him because I know that's what Michael would want me to do. It's very hard, hard because he took something from me that can't be replaced. He took our angel," said James. Family members also say that Motte will be remembered for being a great volunteer which they say began at an early age. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday. |

It is a shame people like this NACRAT or PARKRAT come on and say things as they do about a man of success and accomplishment. Cowardly to say the least, Mike is gone, those who likely feared him can now be brave and speak out in their feelings of jealousy about Mike.
Ruin a good talk about a good man. How cowardly, NACRATS, PARKRATS, HOUSTONRATS...all are the same, cowardly punks of gonowhereville. |

Mike was one hell of a guy, sure hate for his memory being maligned by some on here. Goes to show we are in the era of praising anti-heroes.
This is no place for this kind of thing. I am sure that his friends in Nac and Houston will agree. |

Micheal was a very good and loved person. He was a loving father and friend. He did not grow up in a bad area.i grew up with Micheal and i didnt know that the East Side was a bad area to grow up in..Cunningham and North Shore Area?..not even close to bad..Get the facts right..where u grow up has nothing to do with the people u encounter anyway.u are who u are no matter who u are around..Please let Micheal Rest In Peace and stop trying to slaughter his name.He has two kids as well as his mother, father and brothers and a great host of family and friends mourning his death. we don't need people trying to make it worst than what it already is.the killer, Carey, has alot to take up with God so let that be his worry. All though he took Micheal away from us Micheal is with our heavenly father now.Let him Rest In Peace.

1 I apologize, it was what I was told. I knew Michael, my son played ball with him and marveled at his physical prowess and drive to excel in academics. My fact was in error but no negativeness attached. He was a very good and unique man. |
