Ohio needs to crack down on animal cruelty laws across the board. TPB needs to stop slapping people on the hands. They need stiffer penalties, higher fines, and longer jail/prison sentences.

What would these crybaby bleeding hearts suggest? Eider down quilts and Beethoven? Grow up and get a life. This is big business. If you want a REAL cause, ferret out companies that hire illegals, and picket them. Am I being mean? Maybe, but I also realize that business is business, and these calves are NOT someone's pet!

If people would stop eating meat none of this would happen. Cows aren't "pets" to everyone but they are still living breathing creatures that feel pain as much as you and I.

Not only is the meat industry corrupt it is all about money and who is getting paid under the table. Starting with the state boards who are the good ol boys club and have it all locked up just the way they want it. Deep pockets
Even though the animals on the agrifarms are not "anybody's pet" they should be treated humanely and not poked, prodded, beaten, thrown against the wall, hit with crowbars, ETC!
I suggest research and look at both sides of the issue to gain knowledge of the situation. This is a crime to sit back and watch and do nothing.

Lets do a study on cows. Lets treat 16 cows horrible and 16 cows nice and pet them everyday like they are people and could talk like Mr. ED and play Chopin all day for them... Lets see what one taste better because hey they are all going to die no matter HOW you treat them.

Janna I bet your over weight and prolly snacking on a burger right now.

This is flat out curelty to animals, torture and the State of Ohio is just as much to fault for allowing this. It shouldn't take 7 months to makes changes to protect the calves (or any animal) let alone 7 years. It needs to be stopped NOW!

How about we take 16 people and treat them bad and cruel and take 16 other people and treat them with love and kindness.

What group would be happiest?

We are all going to die anyways no matter how you treat them Right?

Give me a break.

Kudos to Mercy For Animals -- just the standard practices of the veal and dairy industries are enough to make me stop buying these products. Thanks to you, too, Bob!

people need to get a life, these are cows, they are going to be food, we have way too many problems in this country that deserve air time, and this is the bottom of the list... we have illegals living here and costing every taxpayer because they get all the social benefits that legal americans can't... we have crooked politicians that make sure our money goes into the pockets of their friends, we have kids that go to bed hungry, or have no beds to sleep in, and mercy for animals is worried about an animal that i will be eating in a few months.... get a life

Way to go MFA!!!

Ohio needs better laws to protect these innocent animals.

Please contact Governor Strickland, and ask that he push through baseline standards for the humane treatment of farm animals as urged by Ohio Humane, and the many, many signators of the HSUS ballot initiative. Here is is address:

http://governor.ohio.gov/Default.aspx...

Isn't it enough that they die to feed you, do they have to live miserable, tormented lives of abuse before they DIE TO FILL YOUR GUT?

I love to listen to all of you non farmers. In the United States, there are more than 2.2 million farms, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service a database compiled by U.S. Department of Agriculture. There are 65,000 dairy farms nationwide.
The dozen farm investigations, which have focussed on different species, represent less than one-tenth of a percent of U.S. dairy farms, although not all investigations were conducted on dairy farms, a factor that would decrease the sample even further.
This shows that there are are not that many bad farms out there. stop and look at the whole picture not everyone is bad

Save the cows. Eat horses. There are more horses than people that ride them. Cull out the extras that waste our air, waste our water, and waste our grain. Save the planet from methane horse farts. Horse hide is more durable than cowhide and we could make shoes for all the poor people in the world.

I tnink it is terrible the way the calves are treated just so we Americans can eat a "special" meat. When I visit by parents in Bolivar, OH we always pass a farm where these calves are tied with a short chain to a small hut. I alsways say how tempting it would be to go and let them loose but I know I can't. This is so cruel and the idea that they get no life and interaction with other cows is sad. All creatures deserve that. So what with the veal market. Eat another meat.

Yes it's been like this for hundreds of years, abusing, throwing against the wall,, poking, hitting, beating with crowbars, wallowing in their own feces, can't sit or turn around, never se the light of day, extreme temperatures, never graze in the grass.
YOU name it they abuse the animals.
GRANTED---All farms are not like the agrifarms but abuse has come to the attention of the mainstream because it is NOT humane to treat any living creature with such disregard. They are fed antibiotics, steroids. Why do you think people are getting immune to antibiotics and gaining weight???
The animals grow so fast with these steroids that their legs can't hold the fast weight gain and they collapse, into all the feces they wallow in everyday.
The animals can't do anything that comes natural to them like graze, sit, turn around, chickens can't even spread their wings, OH I can go on.
The Ohio laws regarding animal laws are so behind the times, Other states have in place laws and rules but OHIO board need to be cleaned up. The good ol' boys club, with deep pockets "rule the rooste" so to speak.
Why do you think there was an initiative petition to put on the ballot and at the 11th hours they decided to pacify the people with a few changes that amount to about nothing.

I urge calling your state representative or write a letter addressing the abuse in Ohio and change all the animal laws, including keeping wild animals in residential areas.(bear, tigers, lions, etc)

This is far from over..........

Beef tends to be quite a bit better than horse, especially older work or riding horses, which you seem to be suggesting.

Immunity to antibiotics comes from puss bag parents and people who overuse antibiotics because they are afraid to let their kids or their own bodies fight off anything, even a cold. People are fat asses because they eat too much and sit and watch Ellen all day. You are a freakin idiot, put down the HSUS Wayne Pacelle manual on how to be a vegan hippy. By the way that lettuce was alive when you so cruely harvested and killed it, just so you could eat it. How do you now it wasn't in pain? Oh perish the thought!!!!!

PS- Animals are given antibiotics so they will stay healthy, surely you animal lovers who are so concerned with their well being aren't advocating we let them get sick, or are you?

You really don't understand how giving antibiotics to animals in our food supply affects human health?
