Did you people even read the article? The article says that the truck changed lanes and clipped the motorcycles. That to me shows that the driver of the truck was the one not paying attention. This man did tons of charity work and it is a tragedy that someone who wasn't paying attention took his life from him to soon.

Bikes + South Florida = Death!

IF YOU WANT TO DIE, RIDING A MOTORCYCLE GIVE YOU A GOOD CHANCE OF ACHIEVING YOUR OBJECTIVE. I THINK ABOUT 75,000 PEOPLE HAVE DIED ON BIKES SINCE GEORGE BUSH MADE IT A PRIORITY TO "PROTECT" THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

Most motorcyclists expect vehicle drivers to not pay attention. On either side of the vehicle and just behind it or along side is a particularly dangerous place to be. Many riders speed to get away from these types circumstances. This is a typical and unfortunate accident. It is unsafe and distracting because the rider must spend time watching the front wheel of the car, expecting a lane change at any moment.

that woman in the truck who didn't bother to look before she changed lanes, who clipped the two motorcycles thus causing the death of one rider and broken legs on the other... that 40 year old woman should be charged with vehicular manslaughter, negligence, improper lane change, and failure to use due care. again... it's why no matter what... i feel a tiny bit safer in my car due to the fact that there are so many morons on the florida roads who don't bother to look before they change lanes and who also fail to use their turn indicator before changing lanes and or turning.

Some of you need to learn respect. A man died who raised money for charity and spent much of his life helping others. Instead you use this forum where u can hide behind an alias to make stupid comments.
May his soul rest in peace and may his future be filled cycle rides in heaven. |

Yes, we read the article and thats exactly the point. Even the most experienced cyclist is no match for one idiot driver because there is no steel cage protecting his like. RIP |

I knew John from years ago when our band played at biker functions. My condolences to his family and WOG brothers.

Good Lord! How sad... and what a horrible loss for his family, friends, fellow riders and all of the community he constantly gave to. My heart goes out to his family, who are in my prayers for strength and patience in this difficult time!

John was a kind and big hearted man. He will be greatly missed. Scott is in my prayers for a speedy recovery and to be able to handle this loss.
For those of you that will say that motorcyclists deserve this ... go somewhere else. Rant and rave at some other topic. These guys were not on crotch rockets and had helmets on. They were responsible riders. The Wings of Gold family will miss John terribly. And they will be there for Scott as he gets better. |

My sympathy to Jarreau's family. He sounds like he was a great community-minded individual who was a responsible motorcycle rider (unlike many idiots on the road). I would also bet money that Lovik did not look over her shoulder before she changed lanes. It happens to me so often where I get cut off because I happen to be in the next lane over and the driver doesn't check his/her blind spot. It's very frustrating and annoying and in this case deadly.

You could be the most experienced rider in the world, maybe even the best but there sure are opposites out there.
You may not hit someone but someone may hit you. |
True but this happened in Central Florida. |

Rest in Peace Brother John, you will be missed. The Wings of Gold do a Lot of comunity work and John was always there to help.

These two probably just as distracted riding side-by-side as the truck driver.
Just like a 35year woodworker, don't ever think the saw won't cut your hand off... |

I have friends that ride and every article about a motorcyclist being hit or killed, I pray it isn't one of them. Very dangerous to ride a bike, especially with the crazy *** drivers in this state. God bless the friends and families of John and others like him who are killed because of a dumb *** driver.

Concerned One, Why don't you hop up on your Ox Cart and head on off to the land of no "auto vehicles". What were you thinking when you came here? Obviously they had what you constantly refer to as "auto vehicles" there or you wouldn't be here. I hear Tibet's nice this time of year! |

You had to ask.... |

It is very sad, I hope they were not following too closely, to the truck......That is true about accelrating away from traffic. |

WHY ON EARTH WERE THE MOTORCYCLES RIDING SO CLOSE TO THE TRUCK, AND PROBABLY IN HER BLIND SPOT TOO? O, THAT'S RIGHT CAUSE THEY WERE MOTORCYCLE RIDERS WHO ACT LIKE THEY OWN THE ROADS, AND CAN DO NO WRONG..........WELL GUESS WHAT, YOU CAN AND IT USUALLY RESULTS IN DEATH!!!!!
