They issued 1,944 warnings for red light runners in 2 months...imagine how much money they would make if they issued tickets...this system would pay for itself in no time at all...Imagine how many lives they might save if they put them in other intersections...they have this up north and it works very well...my friend got caught twice and had the audacity to complain about getting a ticket...in my opinion the third time they should yank a license for 6 months and hope that it doesn't kill anyone running the red light...I'm all for this cameras at red lights...

This is one of their ways the Sentinel promotes the nanny state. Put us under the control of government with more cameras. This is another means of furthering their agenda and another method of relieving you of your money. And for the low low price of $146,000. Well it's a start. Follow the money.

Oh, I forgot. If you like the way things are done up north why are you here? The greatest thing to come out of New York City is I-95 south but it runs both ways. By-by.

Everyone knows that they don't want to cut the Orange TV budget because of the Hot Spots girls - they're just too hot!

Fine people they will stop then no money will be collected once they get with the program, many accidents will be avoided and we can drive safer around town. The object is to stop redlight running not make money and in order to do that they need a harsh penalty. Give it away to the trauma center when you take out the cost to buy the camera's. Only those who run redlights are opposed to this idea.

So where does the money come from? Well, the budget for the county's OrangeTV operation is a whopping $1.5 million. That includes a staff of 12 full-time employees and 22 freelancers. There's a lot of gravy there -- over and above the money it would cost to simply air all the government meetings.
So let's get this straight... the Sentinel advocates putting people out of work -- so they can pay for cameras and further their nanny-state crusade. Good work, editorial board. Put people out of work and ticket them too...

I agree with you. Anyone who drives close to the speed limit and stops for all lights are the ones who want this. Others don't. It's more than just irritating for us to follow the laws, sit at a light waiting for it to turn green, then when it does you can't go because there are morons still going through the intersection from the other direction. And it's not like it's one or even two who clips them. I have counted up to SIX cars going through the intersection at Woodbury and Lake Underhill road after the light changed. And this practice isn't just occassionaly, it happens every day when traffic picks up.

This is all about running a red light. Last I looked, it was still illegal. You should be fined. It is not about Big Brother or Money. It is about saving someone's life, maybe yours, maybe your childs.Someone runnning red lights will continue to do it until we make it a point to stop them. Put up cameras and fine them until they stop.

Issue warnings only then advertise along with the warning this ticket will be made available to insurance companies under the freedom of information act. Then it would be up to the insurance companies if they would do something.

You people have fun with your electronic gadgets.. I already got a whopper of a ticket in Winter Park thanks to one and if anything, I'm typically considered overcautious on the road.
Personally, I've felt that the tailgaters are a lot more of a danger and menace than a mild momentary speeder or someone who mistimes a light a little, but hey.. that would actually take a real effort to control and that's so inefficient, isn't it.
Well keep up the Star Wars, I'm moving to Seminole County this week.

Exactly...and you better be hypersensitive and "tolerant" to anything and everything, or else you're a sexist, bigoted homophobe. Warn them to death, but just make sure you're popular the entire time you do it. When someone actually tries enforcement and the public doesn't like having the government's rules pushed down on them, you demonize the enforcer & make them apologize! Again - you better be hypersensitive and "tolerant" to anything and everything, or else you're a sexist, bigoted homophobe!

Yup. The whiny idiots who continuously run these lights will make some "big brother is watching you" comment as an argument to keep running these. Next, they'll complain that cops shouldn't have radar guns to judge speed because the government rigs them on purpose to make money. The bottom line is that people who run red lights put other people's lives at risk. I am completely for fining the pants off of anyone who puts another person's life at risk because he/she is a moron who doesn't like to obey the laws. Red light runners can and often do kill mothers, fathers, kids, and babies. Those who oppose this should visit those families who have lost a loved one to a moron who cares nothing about rules, except when they know that a camera will watch them do it.
