Baby found hours after birth in weeds near Palmetto Wal-Mart

A retired Bradenton Police Captain and his son made a startling discovery while retrieving some items from their vehicle at a Palmetto automotive repair shop, a newborn baby boy.

I wonder sometimes why some people don’t "think" before they act.
I’m sure that baby would have been adopted if the female didn’t want it.
I mostly blame the parents for not having taught good morals and "common sense" to there
The state needs to do more to advise new mothers that they have options.

I would love to have a baby! It's really sad that people that have no business getting pregnant can. I work in a not so great part of town. There is a hooker that walks the streets everyday drugged out of her mind and she is very pregnant. The cops don't care. They won't do anything about it.
I really hope this baby will now have a chance at a wonderful life with a loving family.

From that area, I doubt the mother was American. That Walmart used to be a Mexican flea market. They basically just put a Walmart sign up. Large amount of illegal aliens who live in that area.

I AM AMERICAN AND I LIVE IN PALMETO. IT is not only hispanics here. By the way, Walmart cleaned up the area were th flea market was, over 2 years ago.

The inside of the Walmart looks like a Mexican flea market. Dirtiest Walmart I have ever been to. They pretty much cater to the large migrant worker population who lives around that area. Right up the road is that Mexican dance hall where all the gang shootings happen. Right up the other way is another gang infested area. It is the only residential area where the speed limit is 50mph so that people do not have to slow down for fear of getting car-jacked.

That some lady gave birth in the weeds and left the infant does not really surprise me. Palm-ghetto is still the same place it was 15 years ago.

The ret. cop gets an "at a boy" for doing the right thing. He's a tribute to what's right about America...he thought life is important enough to save. The mother needs to be arrested and get some serious mental help. And the baby boy is getting some of the best care in the world....as this helpless little one should get. When he can, the little guy needs to be adoped out to some loving parents. Hay...another day when wrong came out right in America!!!

Palmetto is like the ghettos, anytime I've driven through there is has been blacks or mexicans. The mother should be charged with attempted murder since she obviously left the poor baby out there to die. Who cares whether she has complications from childbirth, with any luck she'll die from a post partum hemorrhage. One less scumball slut in the world.

This baby being rescued is proof in my opinion that God does exist and He definitely has a great plan for this child.

It truly bothers me that some people are assuming that the baby came from a mother who is here illegally. I have heard of MANY cases where the mother was a white teenager who came from a "good" family, yet she did the same thing!

This baby is a child and some people, especially this child's mother, need to learn a lesson in compassion.

The mother needs to learn a lesson about child abuse and attempted murder.

There were so many other options available, which leads me to believe that either the person did it intentionally, just to see what killing a baby is like, or that the person was completely ignorant of American laws and social services due to not being a citizen.

Most likely the latter, and since the screaming majority of illegal immigrants come from south of the border in Central or South America, happen to live in that particular area of Manatee county, and are completely ignorant of American social services or just unwilling to partake in them for fear of getting deported, I am guessing illegal alien.

Of course, there is the rare chance that it was some upper class white girl who for some reason traveled to Palmetto to give birth near the Walmart in the weeds. Just saying it is unlikely.

I feel sad for the people with the negative racial comments. Not everyone is alike and thier is a bit of ignorance & stupidity or simply heartless people in every race. I am a Mexican...I work for a living...I do not collect welfare or food stamps. I work for my belongings.
