HI folks, In the past I have sold some of my nicer gently used clothing at consignment stores. The usual split is 30-35% to the store, the balance to the seller, sometimes it is as high as 40% to the store, never higher.

There is a new Fifi's consignment store here in Apollo Beach. I called them to ask about consigning.

Fifi's gets 60%. That's right 60%. the seller (you or I) gets 30%. I did not stay on the phone long enough to hear what they do with the last 10% but I am willing to bet Fifi's gets to keep it.

That is criminal.

Ok, second point. My stuff is sent to be sold cleaned & pressed, in good condition or not at all. The stuff at Fifi's store was dirty, worn and not washed or cleaned. Quite a few of the pieces smelled really bad.

I guess they do not discriminate, if you are stupid enough to let them cheat you like that, they will take what you've got.

Do not patronize this store, they should be ashamed of themselves.

I completely disagree. Fifi's takes 60% and the consignor gets 40%. If it's designer labels then the split is 50/50.
If you can find a consignment store that takes only 35%, go for it!
Fifi's only sells the best and she does better for her consignors than most.
You should just sell your stuff at a garage sale for a dollar or two.

Im not sure what the normal split is for consignments but it seems to me that the store is a little overpriced. Its used for goodness sake!

i have shopped and consigned at fifi's in amelia island since it opened and i have consigned in other places.i find the best selling at fifi's.again i have consigned for over 15 years and i have yet to find a consignment store that takes under 50 percent.and in my experience at fifi's,the split is 60/40.i'd hate to think what kind of merchandise the other stores are selling.
