It's this same thinking that leads religious nuts and Republican politicians to keep pushing their neo-con agendas to Christianize the US and crusade against other nations; especially if they have oil or some other resource. Missionaries too have devastated indigenous cultures by bringing Western religious thought. They may mean well but it isn't the point. Feed them yes, don't eliminate their traditions and customs. If there is a God, how could he ever approve of anything thats happened in the last 7 years of Bush, let alone "bless us?" We'll stay out of your churches if you stay out of our government houses/courts? Deal?

I think that we are asking for God's blessing on America and my interpretation of that is that we, the people, make up America, and that's what we are really asking for, is God's blessing on all Americans. I think that is a very generous and non-denominational, ehtnic, gender request. I think that anyone who does not want God's blessing has deeper issues that need to be resolved, and absolutely God should be a part of our Pledge Of Allegiance. Athiests can go out in the hall for a smoke if they don't want
God's blessing. Does it make them ill to hear it, does it affect their income, does it make their marriage suffer, does it make their kids stupid,(oh, oh, maybe getting to close to home on this one)? Heck no, I will defend this right until I die!
Well let be fair then. We already have In God we trust on our money. So in schools are you cool with our and your kids using "Allah bless America"? Since the Allah fearing can pray in church for school, lets let the Atheists stay seated and have, the Allah fearing kids step out in the halls and to say "Allah bless America"

Apologists for career politicians claim over and over again that there is "only so much" that can be done to stop baby-killing, both chemical and surgical, under cover of law in the United States of America. There's only so much that a president can do within the exercise of his "constitutional powers." Funny, isn't it, that the same apologists do handstands and other feats of intellectual gymnastics to justify the misuse of executive powers to prosecute the "global war on terror." The domestic terrorism waged upon the innocent preborn is just a regrettable fact of life in this view, which ignores, most obviously, that a nation that permits the wanton violation of God's laws will never make itself secure from any threat, whether real or imagined, from others outside of its borders. A nation that does not recognize Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ as its King and Our Lady as its Immaculate Queen is doomed, that's right, doomed, to the dustbin of history unless it converts and then does penance for its crimes. Americans, including many Catholics across the ecclesiastical divide, are ready to follow the false shepherds of Modernity in the world as they eschew Christ the King and His true Church as the only sure guides to personal, social and international order. Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us.

The funny thing about these people who rant and rave against Catholicism is that sooner or later God slips a banana peel under their heel, and down they go!

God has a wonderful way of tossing that monkey wrench into the works at just the right time.

I laugh when I read posts like these, because it means these people are closer to learning the truth about themselves.

Remember Madelyn Murray? She was the old atheist who unfortunately was murdered before she could convert, but her son survived her, and converted to Christianity. So it goes. Today's rabid anti-Catholic is tomorrow's devout Catholic!

"Allah" is not a good analogy, as "Jesus" is not mentioned in the Pledge of Allegiance.

I've explored many religions, but now I'm non-denominational. I see nothing wrong with asking for God's blessing. How can it hurt? Plus, there's the historic, comforting familiarity of it. A tradition, if nothing else. And if someone doesn't believe in a Diety, then God can be themself, I suppose?

This is ridiculous ...

The few are screwing it up for the majority and all you wimps are side stepping the issue out there while sitting here on THESE FORUMS crying in your beer.

WHAT have you accomplished?
WHO have you contacted to object to this?
WHAT have you PERSONALLY done?

IF you have NOT actually done ANYTHING about it - go change your diapers - you are nothing more than a little moaning brat!!

THAT IS THE PROBLEM ... everyone expects people like me to do it ... I can ONLY make the impact of one by myself!

Who is sitting here crying and letting this PROBLEM CONTINUE?

“I'm just one vote.”
