Variety ???? JEEEZ there will soon be one on every freaken block practically; selling exactly the same SHEET. That's what I miss the most about Europe each city has it own character. It's own style, really unique stores. The US is becoming just one big cookie cutter. You can almost predict where the next big block store will pop up in front of you for yet an another eye sore.

What they ought to do is mandate they build the whole facility underground including parking. And the surface becomes a park. :-)

A) If Europe is so great, planes take off quite frequently - don't let the door hit cha B) I guess they need to sink Beaver Creek Commons underground, then, huh?

Although a Super Walmart will be convenient...A Sam's Club or Costco would be fantastic! Corporate Walmart, Are u listening? Just imagine the revenue and jobs you could generate with a VERY MUCH NEEDED Sam's Club or Costco in this area!!!

HOORAY!!! In this "Economy" it is so welcome to have a Walmart Supercenter in the Cary area. I am anxiously awaiting the opening. with 3 teenagers @ home, it is imperative for me to shop @ Walmart. Though I would LOVE to shop @ Harris Teeter more frequently, Walmart is a fiscal necessity for me. I feel that the Supercenters have come a long way in regard to Walmart's image. the managers and the employees seem to care and are willing to go the extra mile for the customer. that has been my experience.

I have no issues with Walmart locating a store here in Apex. I just think their chosen location is stupid, stupid, stupid! At the corner of the Peakway and Hughes Sts. but also with the major access point being Hwy 55, which is already a strained bottleneck as it is.
Why was it not located further down off of 64 (the Apex part, beyond the Cary part)? That makes more sense to me, but I guess that bit of common sense is pointless now that the land is cleared, leveled, and building is ongoing as of May 2009.

Any idea when this store is supposed to open? I've seen the building but don't drive by it much.

I had to do the same thing when trying to apply for the store in Morrisville.

It was initially slated for Hwy 64 near Kelly Road but the high end neighborhoods in that area put up such a fuss and the plan was scrapped...

It's about price, not selection. If they're going to charge 1/2 to 1/3 the price of the same veggies they sell at Harris Teeter, I'' be glad to forgo the kumquats and star fruit to get a good deal on my cantelope, tomatoes, and such. In fact, HT has dropped all their midrange deli products and is now 100% Boars Head with everything at $9/pound instead of what they used to carry at half that price. So as long as other retailers keep doing stuff like that, then yeah there will be one on every corner.

So you would want to buy something raised in China or Mexico instead of the US or full of chemicals. This is what is wrong with us now and why there is going to be a Wal-Mart or an empty Trash-Mart on every corner. There is a reason they sell cheap stuff its where it comes from.
