I've wanted an ar15 for coyote hunting for many years, now I that I am financially able to purchase one, I have to purchase a home in a neighboring state to be able to own one.
I don't see the safeact going away anytime soon so I guess I should start looking to move elsewhere.
Its a shame I love NY's land its beautiful but its gouvernnment is ugly, corrupt, and underhanded.

You are right! New York is a very liberal state with a very liberal governor. St. Lawrence county including Gouverneur have been areas of more conservatives, but unfortunately we are in the minority compared to the rest of the state. Also, during the last election, a high percentage of people in St. Lawrence County including Gouverneur voted for Obama. I hope they are now seeing their blindness and denial of his arrogance, his wanting to change the US Constitution, his lying, his wanting amnesty for ILLEGAL immigrants, his agenda for a socialistic government, his association with radical terrorists, and of course many other reasons showing his incompetence as president of the US. Many people are uninformed.

Define liberal please..this Governor is a fiscal conservative...balanced,on-tim e budgets, the institution of a tax cap that the state has lived within, elimination of a 10 billion dollar budget deficit, tough bargaining with public sector unions, the possibility of a tax cut...

Liberal: open to new behavior or opinions willing to disreguard traditional values.
Example: They have more liberal views toward marriage and divorce than most people.
Or
Piss on the second amendment I am just liberal enough to pass these laws in the middle of the night.

An AR15 for coyote hunting? get real. The safe act has not had a negative effect on the sport of RESPONSIBLE hunting. I can still buy a big game license, buy ammo and bag a buck . nothing has changed.

If riparian wants an AR-15 he should not have to justify it. An AR-15 is just another semi-auto but because of it's look it must be evil, get a grip.

AR15s are great guns. If a law abiding citizen wants one they should have one. We are lucky that mass shooters don't know guns very well. If they did they would use a shotgun with buck shot. Why do you think the Army uses them in crowded places. How many lives do you think the safe act will save? Zero.

If you want an AR-15, then go buy one. You can get one on PA, or NH right now.

Ya and I have to stay in pa with it.
You cant legally bring one into the state.
I am looking into one that appears to meet the ny safact requirements
Its lame but should do the job
Apparently you can have a pistol grip if the magazine is permanently attatched.
Or a detachable clip if it lacks a pistol grip and either configuration cant have anything scary looking on the end of the barrel including screw on threads.

Just buy it and bring it back. They are not standing at the border looking at you. No one will know unless you tell them.

How many present owners do you think will register the ones they own right now? I for one will not be registering any of mine.

I would love to have one but ONLY legally you are simply ignorant to the game if you would suggest commiting multiple felonys to aquire one.
I had a family member get in trouble for " taking" a firearm from someone, right in front of them to satisfy a debt the guy didn't want to pay. It ruined his life.
He would have got in less trouble if he took the mans daughter for payment.
You don't fk around with firearms laws!

-We shouldn't have to go to another state within this union to get a gun that isn't (and shouldn't) be banned federally.

-If they ever do ban the evil looking AR-15, psycho mass killers will turn to semi-automatic pistols and then they will be targeted for banning. Then it will be semi-auto shotguns and right on down to bolt action deer rifles. Whatever is available, psycho's will acquire and use. If you think banning the AR15 won't cause them to move on to the next tool you're as insane as they are. Your deer rifles are as safe as the AR15, pal.

No doubt. In asian countries where people cant own firearms the psychos use knives and throw acid in your face.
Do they ban kitchen utensiles and car batteries now? Wtf, theres always gonna be psychos. If everyone had a machine gun the criminals wouldnt be able to go on shooting sprees that last until swat teams arrive.

The latest school shooting in Arapahoe, Colorado, anti-gun far left liberal shooter, Karl Pierson was armed with a legally purchased SHOTGUN, a machete and molotov cocktails. Not the typical, "evil gun" anti-gunners like to see in these type of incidents. This is the type of gun anti-gunners will be calling for to be banned if the AR15 and semi-auto pistols were already banned and this were all these psycho's had.

This shooter wounded two students before turning the gun on himself. Why was this spree sop short lived? Because he was immediately confronted by an ARMED school resource officer and Karl Pierson decided to take his own life instead of stacking up the usual body count.

Remember, putting armed officers or teachers in schools was the NRA's suggestion and was scoffed at by the left and anti-gunners as insane. Yet, here we have an example of it actually working. Hmm. Makes me think the left and anti-gunners actually want an unarmed community to be at the mercy of psycho's without the means to defend themselves. Seems to me they actually want high body counts so they can ultimately achieve their goal like they're appearing to do in New York as Riparian's point is making in this thread.

I thought our leaders were educated people. You can't be taught common sense in college. Anyone with one bit of common sense would know that it isn't the gun. To stop mass shootings they would have to remove every gun in the country. Then we would have mass bombing or mass machete killings. Crazies will find a way to carry out their crime. Mean while all of us honest people will have to obey the states every useless whim.

I thought that was odd too. I've argued with drt in other posts to the point that I'm sure he doesnt care for me. Then to offer such advise in a openly public forum and admit intent to break a law himself. DiRT if you are not a cop you are foolish. Sounds like conspiracy to transport banned weapons across state lines. Im no lawyer but it sounds like a possible law.
Then again a cop can lie to you all day to get you to type one sentance that can change your life forever.
