Another case of the DA's office and the judge screwing up, this man should be in prison. It doesn't matter whether this girl is handicapped or not, she is 13 years old and he sexually assaulted her, he needs to rot in prison. Shame on you Judge Richards for letting him walk, I am sure everyone in the area will feel real safe with him spending 120 days served only on weekends.

The whole thing is just plain sick. What is that judge thinking? Unreal!

This is Jerome Richards for you. he's too busy restricting our gun rights to worry about punishing actual criminals.

This is why perverts keep touching children, cause they get away with it.

I'm in the same predicament with my daughter. She ( who is 9) has been sexully assaulted by another child who is 14 and has autism. We went through every procedure step by step and all the cops could say really was, " much may not be done bc of his disability" He knows right from wrong and what he did has turned my daughter into someone I don't know anymore. Thank you NYS Justice System.

That's ridiculous. That 14 year old wouldn't be around children anymore. I'd go to the authorities, board meetings.. whatever I had to do. A disability is one thing. What it isn't is a free pass to assault.

After many meetings with lawyers/ detectives and her therapist, They believe that there is so much trauma that we are not to move forward. They believe she can't handle a trial. We keep hearing over and over , " he has a disability.." But I agree that is not a given pass to assault. She now sees a therapist once a week and they are thinking medication is now the answer. Just honestly don't know what to do. NYS Justice System has failed me and I have no faith in it anymore!

I believe she has to know you'll do anything to protect her and show her you won't let it happen to her or anyone else again. Go to the media if you have to. Hide your identity if you have to but go to them. The authorities, educators etc want to sweep this under the rug and most of all they don't want anyone to notice it. Shed as much light as possible on their actions. Don't let people live in the fantasy world that this disability can't go unattended and end up with a sitation like you have on your hands. You could save a child from suffering the same fate.
