I think it's a wondeful family owned business. Great food and beverages. It has a homespun, eclectic decor that I love. Maybe the word eclectic gets over-used, but I think it fits. I love the place!

The owners are very nice people and are doing a great job with lunches, coffee, and baked goods. I think it is terrible to ruin someone's reputation and business on this site. It makes me wonder if it's competition that is writing all these negative and poisonous statements. Maybe we should just take a look at who the competitors might be. Leave these owners of the Coffee House alone. We are fortunate to have a nice Coffee House in our village.

If you know so much - research - then tell us. We want to be amazed too. Drug use is a real issue. There are kids getting their kicks with experimental and unknown drugs. There are a lot of these drugs out there. I don't need to list these as they are well known in the news all over the place. Gouverneur is not separatated from drug trade, pills and all the latest craze with drugs. We also want to be surprised to know who deals with everyday life's issues with drugs. List some.

I agree. Shouldn't tips go to the waitresses...the employees, as they probably aren't getting minimum wage anyway. TIP the employees not the owners.

My take is to let them run their business the way they want. If employees do not like the conditions, pay or lack of tips then let them talk to their manager or owner behind closed doors. They can work it out. If we want to suggest an idea for a new Rueben sandwich or give them a tip on an expresso then lets do that. I just do not understand how people think that bashing a business, repeated attempts to have them lose customers and subsequently close will help Gouverneur. Its another light on in the AM. Its another option for breakfast, lunch and all the muscicians who like that venue to play in. Its a true coffee house with a nice hometown feel. Let their business run its course based on how you like their food, drink, waitress/waiters and prices and not get all caught up in the drama of he said - she said. I saw this: did you see that: did you hear this: does he do that. C;mon folks. I bet we could go business to business and find faults. Why the little, independent guy? Lets give someone some credit to want to do business here. The key word is want. Last I checked our population is not growing, industry is down and jobs are scarce. Anyone wanting to open a business in that climate along eith the state/national situations should be fed and fed well. Fed with our pocketbooks and patronage. Thank you.

Have you seen this for yourself? Do you know what the owner do with any tips they get? If you answered no to any of these then you are only acting off hearsay, gossip and rumors and should not comment. If you have seen it and your family doesn't work there then leave it alone. If it does't really help you get thru the day or night then leave it alone. My opinion.

I know two people who have worked there and told me that they do NOT get tips. The tips go to the owners. I would say at least split the tips. The waitress should get something. Also, I think we are fortunate to have the Coffee House, and I don't mean to be negative...only on the tips.

Good point and well taken. I just wonder if they talked to the boss about their issues or just to people ( like you ) about it and complain.( no offense to you of course ). A big mistake is not talking to your boss about issues that affect your moral, work and overall perception of the business.
