<quoted text>They should have closed Fowler years ago. Just think of all the money that could have been saved. There are not enough students there to keep it open....THAT IS THE BOTTOM LINE. It doesn't matter if Gouverneur Central had LOTS of extra money to spend, Fowler should be closed regardless. Just because one has lots of money doesn't mean money should be spent needlessly.
There is NO reason, not to place Fowler's 116 students into the East and West Side schools, especially when over 20 of the 116 live in Gouv. Makes budgetary and COMMON WISE sense.
How do you figure there aren't enough students in fowler school? My child's class has 23 kids?

Ok so under the logic of "former student" it makes more sense to bus 96 students to Gouverneur, than to bus 20 students to Fowler?

There aren't enough students to keep it open, when there are 6 empty classrooms at the East Side. Don't you get it???

You are SOOO ridiculous and clueless. Yes, it does make more sense to bus 90 something Fowler students to Gouv., than to bus any number of Gouv. students to Fowler. Figure it out!!!
You can give all kinds of reasons that YOU think Fowler should remain open, but you are OUTVOTED!!!! by people with common sense.

You obviously have no common sense and obviously are not capable of an adult discussion. My guess is the entire situation is far from resolved and as a tax payer I have every right to my opinion, if you don't like then oh well it sucks to be you.

I agree with hmm. But this arguement will keep going because the Almighty people of gouverrneur think they outvoted the people of Fowler however the fact is they didn't outvote anything the BEO did. Nobody else had a say in it. But we will are what happens in the long run because they aren't done with the cuts yet and I'm sure the same people putting us down for sticking up for Fowler will be on here whining next because something they don't think should be cut is going to be.

I agree and for those complaining that their taxes are paying for Fowler, I am attaching a link to the tax rolls, the percentages are very interesting. http://www.co.st-lawrence.ny.us/data/files/de...

you are half right..fowler residents are out voted. but it has nothing to do with common sense and everything to do with jealousy and no representation on the BOE. this has been coming for a long time and has nothing to do with the budget. if it was about saving money it would have been dealt with years ago.fowler (the by far cheaper school to maintain and run)would have been expanded to hold even more village students and one of the two village schools would have been closed. everyone is talking about a $224,000 savings by closing fowler elementary.thats a pretty small amount of money to run and maintain a school building. id like to see the cost of running and maintaining either of the village elementary schools.

Fowler residents weren't outvoted, no one was. The BOE was the only ones with a vote. But did you know there are 2 residents of Fowler on the BOE.

Fowler was on the chopping block years ago, but your previous BOE president Nancy Capalinno would not allow any discussion on the subject. Now that the old battle axe is gone, commen sense prevailed.

Those three busses are only for Fowler kids they don't go to gouverneur so there for if the kids now have to go to gouverneur they are still going to need the busses to go pick them up and take them home correct? So where are they going to cut down on the busses that are going to Fowler if they are still going to need them?
DO YOU THINK THOSE "THREE" WHICH ACTUALLY THERE ARE FOUR BUSES IN FOWLER, ARE HOUSED IN FOWLER, NO THEY ARE IN FACT HOUSED AT THE BUS GARAGE IN GOUVERNEUR SO WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE THEY COME FROM GOUVERNEUR NOW TO PICK UP THE KIDS TO TAKE THEM TO FOWLER SCHOOL! DUH!
