Get your facts straight...Watn. Daily Times writes 116 students....regardless....just 2 students off from 118. Also 118-90= 28 students who do NOT live in Fowler....that is more than a full class and 24% of the students. Thanks for the information. I was told that 28 students don't live in Fowler, now you have verified it. I just keep hearing more and more reasons to close Fowler. Bravo...BOE!!!!
You are wrong. Apparently you did not go to the meeting. The superintendent acknowledged that the WTD go the fact incorrect and she apologized for it. 90% of the student live in Fowler and the others are bussed from Gouverneur because they asked to go there. Quit spewing stuff that is not factual. Give this a break. I believe you made your point as wrong as it is.

I am seeing numbers tossed out regarding the number of students that do not live in Fowler. What I would like to know is of those students, how many actually live in the village? What areas did they consider as living in Fowler? As far back as I can remember, Fullerville, Balmat and Hailesboro have all been considered a part of the Town of Fowler and have been taxed as such. Any of the students that were actually from the village, how many of those students did the parents specifically request they attend Fowler? Did they count the Beginning Years students into the overall number of students in Fowler school? It is my understanding that boces pays rent to the school district for the 2 rooms at Fowler for their Beginning Years program.

You are wrong and are the most cruel person on this website. I wish I knew who you were as there are many people on multiple threads who despise you and your comments. Don't sit on your computer and down play everything you read just to get a rise out of people. You are pathetic and a waste of air, space and time. You are the most insistent instigator and just continue to spread lies just to be on here, because you surely have no head on your shoulders to actually be a part of real life. Idiot with a capitol I.

Over 90 student live in the town of Fowler. The ones being shipped to Folwer are mostly parents who lived in Fowler and moved to Gouverneur who have asked for their kids to go to Fowler. Any residuals are other parents who asked for kids to go to Fowler. Yes all of those areas listed are the town of Fowler. They did not count beginning years - only the full time students.

I only read that 116 students attend Fowler. BTW that includes Pre-K. What I wrote about 28 students being bussed from outside the Town of Fowler was said by "Villager" who apparently got the fact wrong. My point is... there are too few students to keep Fowler open especially when many of the students are bussed from outside the Town of Fowler. You may think my point is wrong, but the majority of the taxpayers in the district do NOT think so.

Let people deal with it any way they want. It is their kids and not yours. Sure they will go to middle school in 6th grade. A lot will change and can change between now and then. Parents want what is best for their kids and let them work thru there own plan of attack. They do not need you on here telling them this and that. Their education is priority one. Getting to the school for that education is part of it. If you don't know the difference you should not be commenting.

Please know that "Get Real" "Wondering" "Sensible" "Check it out" "Wowza" "parent" "Big J" "Mirror" and "Wow" may all be the same person. In most cases it is easy to pick up on her sarcastic, incendiary remarks and name calling. I may be off by a couple of the names I have stated here, but it all makes sense. She even makes a comment to Dan the Man that he is despised by many when in fact most of the comments on this thread, each by "different" people state that they agree with the BOE and Fowler should be closed. The person of many names needs to keep changing her name to make people think that there are more supporters of not closing the school. Now she needs to "Get Real".

As I said...I may be off by a couple of names. Why are you being so defensive? How do you know that I am not correct on at least most of the names? It's not a matter of being a Topix CSI, it's a matter of knowing that the same person is writing so many posts using a different name. We just like to know that!!!

The fact is.. regardless of the numbers, it's safe to say that we're realistically talking about 90ish actual Fowler resident / students ranging from Kindergratern to 5th grade. This is a non-issue. Closing this school is a no brainer. Anyone arguing otherwise is just being irrational.

Well done, BOE. The vast majoirty of the Gouverneur School District applauds your decision.

you all seem to like throwing the small numbers out there to make a point.have any of you looked up the break down of tax revenue collected by gouverneur school district? over 30% comes from the town of fowler. if we have so few students why are we paying (as a whole) only 10% less tax than gouverneur? ive seen some calling fowler a "private school". it should have 7 classrooms added and become the fowler school district. why are we paying a huge share to run a school in another town that your numbers tell me we dont need. fowler parents need to talk to the fowler town board and let them have the town lawyer deal with the BOE for them.

30%? I'm going to have to go ahead and call bologna, here. Please post a link to this information. However, even if that's true.. paying for the high school alone makes that about right.

if you cant find the tax records i doubt you would understand them anyway.

someone who thinks the town with only "90"(your number) elementary students paying 30% of the tax collected to a school system that has a total of 784 elementary students is "about right" does not understand math well enough to bother with.

How did I know you weren't going to be able to back up your claim? Probably because it mathematically didn't make a bit of sense.

Also, you're attempting to attribute that unsibstantiated 30% to Fowler Elementary alone and not even acknowledging your share of the Jr. and Sr. High School for which you clearly share a burden.

My 90ish student figure is more than well sustainable considering Fowler has approximately 116 students and it's well docuemented that an estimated 25 are needlessly bussed in from Gouverneur. This has been discussed at the board meetings and this discussion thread.

It's my belief that you just don't want to acknoweldge the obvious that 90 students spread out from Kindergarten through 5th grade being dispersed to one of two schools, each currently having multiple empty classrooms is a fiscal no brainer that trumps tradition and a 5-10 minute extended bus ride.
