And let's not forget Andrew Mack on the baseball team of all stars.

Antlers does not have a Hall of Fame area because they cannot even afford to properly feed and educate their kids. I'm not sure about everyone else, but food and education...yes in that order...should come before sport accredidation.

Antlers Citizen, no offense but I can tell you are either new to Antlers or really young. None of those kids played before 2000. There were way better players than those in the history of Antlers sports, especially in women's basketball, baseball, and men's basketball. I will give it to Jairus, he was good. Thanks for sharing and I appreciate the names. I wish you had been able to see some of the other people that were mentioned because I can tell you really appreciate good athletics. Don't feel bad though, I was too young to see some of those good athletes mentioned by Bear Kitty like Betty Tom and Herman Johnson.

Like i said 98 was as far as i remembered. Andrew graduated in 2000. That was the last year we had a great team until injuries killed us in football. We need coach pool back

The best football coaches Antlers had, never would take the high school. The best thing that would happen to Antlers would have been for Monte Martin and Dewey John Hatcher to take the high school co-head coaching jobs.

Coach Hatcher and Coach Martin would have coached high school football but the school board didnt want to pay them what they were worth. I agree completely that those were the 2 best coaches Antlers ever had and Coach Pool comes in at the 3rd best for me personally. As far as there being no good players after 04 thats a crock. The senior class of 06 football players went to playoffs in the 05 season, so how can they not be considered good. Cody Little and Eric Shaw were All District players that year. As far as after that, there were still some good players. Wayne Wilson, Colton Ammerer, and Jonathon Scott were All District Players of the Year for their positions in 2007. That means they were the best in their position in the whole district not just "All District", they recieved the highest award possible in their district. That district included teams like Davis and Valliant, who were powerhouses that year and both went to playoffs. They may not have went to state or been All Staters or All Americans but they were all good.

Antlers has also had numerous Powerlifters go to state in the past 3 years as well.

Tennis players go to state almost every year too as well as a few golf players like Treg B. and TJ Williams who have both competed in the State tournament in the last 2 years.

Our softball team has been to the state playoffs several times in the last few years too.

The girls basketball team was great last year and they are probably going to be just as good this year.

I cant leave out the band either because they have won the Triple Crown 2 times in the past 4 years, which meant that they were the best band in the whole state.

As far as the best players to ever come out of Antlers, Betty Tom and Herman Johnson were by far the best.

Come on everyone, we arent that bad, we have some good athletes and students from Antlers.

it's a given in football that we'll have players go all district every year. Colton was a great lineman. As for the others you can't be a great athlete by only winning on the field.

First of all I love all the family support on this website. Tennis, I would have to go with Daniel Taylor and John Willeford. Golf, Treg Buchanan. Mens Basketball, the whole 2000 team was pretty decent, it had good shooters and rebounders on it. Womens basketball- Jacy Settles, Jamie Young, Hayley Rhinehart. Baseball- Kerry Clay, Colby O'Donnell, Dusty Gregg. Football- There are a ton of athletes I would name, and not one of them would come after the 2004 season at the latest. Jairus Martin would be in the latest group. Softball- Brenda Adams Brown was a great player. And no, you cannot forget band, because they are the only multitime state championship program in Antlers history.
I do not name any current athletes other than Treg, because his sport only requires one good athlete. Our schooling now is all about "me, me, me.."
Jalena Arthur will be a good pitcher when she gets older, let's just hope she listens to her Hall of Fame Coach, HOOD BALDWIN, and noone else. He does know what he is talking about.
Can you elaborate more on the "me, me, me.." comment please?

yes. Our students think they carry each team and without them the team can't win. However there is not k huge option of sports where one person controls the destiny of their results. Golf and singles tennis are it. We're to worried about me instead of us

Personally I loved watching Toni Price play, she was a huge asset to the lady bearcat team. She went on to play for CASC and did very well there and also signed a full ride scholarship with NSU. Other good players were John willeford for basketball, and Andrew Mack for baseball. Good topic, something positive for our community!

He played baseball and football from the time he was big enough to play . He graduated in 2001 and if you ever came to an Antlers game during those time you knew who he was. Yes I may be just his Momma but I know he was a good player too many bragged on him. He still plays all the time now and also coaches little kids even though he doesnt even have one playing. I am very proud of him and he will always be my ALLSTAR

I seen Donald play..I would probably put him on the All Tough team if that was the topic of this page...Donald's theory about running the ball was why run around someone when you can put your helmet in their jersey numbers and run right through them...LOL...he was built like a little bowling ball going 80 miles a hour...

like the old saying. There's no I in TEAM. Gotcha.
thats really sad that they are like that. A TEAM can do so much more than just one person. Why cant they see that?

WOW! I am speechless. I have never seen such a variety of answers on a subject. I don't know who most of you are, nor will I mention my name, but wow! some of these comments are just flat out ridiculous. I mean out of all these athletes, how many even played at the next level? I can name three and Ive been around Antlers my entire life. I mean some of you people are naming kids that never even hardly played. What's sad is those three had solid careers both in college and in high school, and their names arent even mentioned but a few times! lol.

I don't totally disagree with you but playing at the next level doesn't mean that you were not a great high school athlete..granted, I agree that some of these kids I never heard of but then I don't follow Antlers Sports as much as I used but take Herman Johnson..he was a 1973 High School All American..but he never played college ball because his knees were too bad and his back was messed up from a car accident..Kevin Otis was a great athlete for Antlers back in the early 90's but didn't play college ball(at least as far as I know) and there are a ton of people that I didn't name that came thru Antlers and played college ball..just off the top of my head here are a few Myrl Redman was a back up QB at Kansas State in the late 80's..Derek Oliver played football at Southeastern and then at Central Missouri State..Antone Martinez played football at Southeastern.John Redman played basketball at Western Juco..Clegg Mcadams played 2 years of Baseball at Murray Juco and then 2 more at a 4 year school in Texas..Steve Tucker played baseball at East Central as did Wendall Fields (Josh Field's Dad)..Karla(Jackson)Elliot and Melanie(Clark)Burgess played college ball at Southeastern..Misty Madbull pitched at Carl Albert back in the 90's..but I didn't name them because the ones I mentioned all stood out to me a bit more for various reasons at the high school level..

now if ur gonna bring up the football all tough team. zack rosenthol, clay mollenkoph, johnny cole, billy harper, donald pritchet, david swift, preston taylor, larry linn, bj janoe, john jones, harry taylor. now them boys wer tuff. they played hard and never gave less than a 110 percent every time they stepped on the field practice or a game. they went undefeated from 7th grade to 9th and cudda went alot farther if they wudda stayd together.
