If it's bad, it must have happened in Antioch. Leaders living in the southeast Davidson County community say that's what a lot of people think but it's not fair.

We just moved to Antioch in March from very small town Indiana. The whole area was culture shock at first. But we have a very nice house in a very nice neighborhood with a neighborhood watch. I have never felt threatened or scared, even when being out at night by myself (I'm female). I haven't seen or heard anything yet even close to scaring me out of my new city.

Some areas of Antioch are not bad, but many do seem to be associated with higher crime, etc. I live in Antioch, have a nice home, and nice neighbors who take care of their property. I have yet to figure out why areas that are not considered "Affluent" seem to be have more people who just can't take care of their property or who seem to have no pride at all. You may not be wealthy, but that doesn't mean you can't take care of where you live or what you own. Step up people of Antioch, have some respect for yourself and your community.

Unfortunately, Antioch is steadily becoming inundated with rental property. I have lived on the same street for 28 years. When I first moved here, 95% of the homes were owned by the occupants. Now, at least 50% are rentals. These people are very transient, most occupying the house for about a year and then moving on. Very few of these individuals have any neighborhood pride or sense of respect for their neighbors. Most obvious are the cretins cruising around in boom cars or who have heavily amplified home stereo systems. They bring their noise outside and play it for all to hear. The police are useless in this regard because they cannot respond quickly enough when a complaint is called in. This type of environment has an exponential effect: the more people of this ilk that move in, the more average people move out and transients take their place. I predict that in ten years, Antioch will become a ghetto-like area populated by thugs and gangsta wannabes.
