Obviously the lack of sensible atlatl laws led to the destruction of these cultures.

The actual original people of the area were eradicated before whites even arrived on the continent? It's true, but not very politically correct...

The French entered and explored the Ohio Valley long before any "American" colonists did. Since the land was not officialy England or France's claim yet the journals were not made public.

The whites arrival probably had nothing to do with the eradication. The stupid libs just automatically blame everything on the whites. If you think whites are so evil then please kill yourself.

The long-entrenched conservative right-wing hypochristian fox-news-groupies "killed Ohio's earliest dwellers"!! Just like they are killing Ohio's latest dwellers!! Ha!

I've always enjoyed Mr. Switzer's columns. Does he have any books to his credit?

people who think europeans caused the demise of ancient american cultures have never seen Dawn of the Dead, this could also explain the fortified towns.

The Lenape and Mohawks share a common theme in their oral traditions. The two groups, stranger to each other came together to defeat a vicious and more advanced group on their trek from the west lands to their ancient homelands in eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York. They defeated this great culture and wiped them out. Maybe the answer lies in these oral histories and traditions?

that is an interesting theory. Maybe they should write their stories down or find someway to make them public.Would certainly make for a interesting read.

I think the death of these cultures could be contributed to by disease or warring factions. Keep in mind that these were socially stratified advanced cultures. In the Cahokia burials it has been widely speculated that many of the individuals found within the burial mounds esp those whose heads and hands were cut off were sacrificed for the needs of the rulers in their lives after death-probably killed when their leaders died. Like all big government operations-when you sacrifice many of the people for the few of the leaders-sooner or later you will run out of people.

The problem is that not all cultures have a written language that can be translated from an oral history to a written history. Besides, haven't you heard that the winners always write history :o/

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Taurus

There's a certain amount of friction between you and your partner today. This could be really exciting and dynamic, spurring you into fresh adventures together, or it might lead to spats that seem to get more petty as the day wears on. So resist the temptation to get drawn into silly squabbles and instead express today's energy in more positive ways.
